There's a button on the Alexa device that will put it in setup/pairing mode. Then you can connect to it on your mobile device. The Alexa app can then find it and prompt you in the app for the network and password you wan to use. Hi Barbara, do you have the Alexa app on your iPad? If not, you will need that. I am going to assume you have an Amazon account to link Alexa to? Once you first start the Echo it will go in to paring mode and tell you to open the Alexa app on your device to add the Echo to your account. The Echo will then attempt to join you home wireless network. The Alexa app should provide instructions on getting the Echo online. Hope this helps.
