TASCAM DP-01 won`t startup

Press and hold down the "track edit" and the "shut down" buttons while turning the power on until it says "-init screen- please wait". It will ask you if you want to initialize hdd. If so press yes/enter. This Will wipe your hard drive clean. If no just press no/exit. This works on the dp-01fx. It should work on the dp-01 as well.

Hard drive crashed on tascam dp02

A hard drive crash on a Tascam DP-02 digital recorder can be a major issue, as it can result in the loss of recorded audio files and settings. Here are a few potential solutions below:

Check the connections: Make sure that the hard drive is securely connected to the Tascam DP-02. If the connections are loose, the hard drive may not be recognized by the device.

Reformat the hard drive: If the hard drive is still recognized by the Tascam DP-02, you may be able to reformat it and use it again. This will erase all data on the hard drive, so make sure to back up any important audio files before reformatting.

Replace the hard drive: If the hard drive is not recognized by the Tascam DP-02 or reformatting does not work, you may need to replace the hard drive. You can use a compatible hard drive with the same capacity or larger.

Seek professional help: If none of the above solutions work, it may be best to take your Tascam DP-02 to a professional technician who can diagnose and repair the issue.

It is important to keep in mind that, regardless of the solution, you will lose the audio files and settings that were stored on the hard drive. Backing up your files regularly is crucial to avoid data loss.

reset my Tascam DP o2 - You May Try onces.

To perform a factory initialization of the DP-02 turn the unit off. Hold the Up Arrow and Track Edit while powering the recorder on. You'll get a confirmation screen and then press the Yes/Enter button.

Is there a driver for tascam dp-01 for windows7 operating system

Unfortunately no such driver is available, because tascam have discontinued that particular model.

Here is a way to get your recordings off the device

On the Tascam main menu, select "Wave." 2) On the Wave menu, select "Export Master." This saves your mastered song to the correct folder. 3) Connect the Tascam DP-01 to your computer. You will get a message telling you your USB device has malfunctioned. 4) On the Tascam menu, select "Disk." 5) On the Disk menu, select "USB OPN/CLS." Your computer should detect the DP-01 as a hard drive & be visible in "My Computer" on Windows.

My computer won't recognize my DP-01 Tascam recorder.

open the usb port on your dp-01 by going to "disk" in the "menu" select "usb opn/clse" press enter twice.

if your pc is connected to ur dp-01 it should reconize it, open the files by going into my computer as you would with a memory stick or card.

My dp01wth cd recorder says no more disc space when trying to rec

You may wish to first verify that you have indeed erased those songs (by choosing 'erase' in the 'song' menu - see page 18 in your manual) and not simply cleared out the fat partition. You cannot erase songs on the DP-01 from your computer, you can only do this in the DP-01 menus.

If you erase all the songs from a disk partitian the DP-01 is supposed to automatically create a new blank song. So the partition or the hard disk could have become corrupt because you say you aren't seeing any song there.

If you haven't already, you could try selecting another partition to be the active one (press 'menu', select the 'disk' menu, choose 'partition' and press the > arrow key. Move the arrow symbol to the partition you want to make active and press enter - see page 36 in the manual) to see if another partition works any better.

If the newly selected partition does work, but the original one didn't you might have to reformat the old partition. Re-select it as above, and follow the instructions to reformat a partition on page 37 in the manual).

If the newly selected partition doesn't work either, then your hard disk might be corrupted. At this point you could try a disk reformat (page 36 of the manual) during which you'll have to set the partition sizes. The disk format instrcution of page 36 will walk you through that too,

Hopefully it's just something simple and you won't have to get into formatting anything.

Good luck with it.

Memory poor

This is an error in Tascam's code that usually means 'out of disk space'. Try using 'delete unused' to free up some space first within the song you're on and after that you might consider backing up some songs to your PC and then deleting them from the DP-01 to free up more disk space.

Hope this helps.

Tascam DP01 wont get past please wait screen

Usually an indication of bad sectors on the hard drive. This can be caused by bumping the unit when it is running, excessive vibration, a power failure while it is on, improper shutdown, or expoure to a strong magnetic field like having a subwoofer too close or an intermittent faulty power supply.

Your options are to return the unit (if it is still under warranty), or if not to open up the DP-01, remove the hard drive, connect it to a PC and perform a low level format (or take the drive to your nearest PC repair shop and have them reformat it).

Unfortunately you'll lose any data that wasn't backed up, but this should bring back your DP-01.

Software.

I don't believe any software comes with the DP-01.  After you record your tracks, you have to "export" them to your FAT drive.  Once they are on your FAT drive, you will be able to see them using Windows Explorer.  Your Tascam shows up as a removable disk.  Simply open the drive and you will see the available folders.  The WAV folder will contain your exported .WAV files and you can drag&drop from there.

If you don't have the manual, you can find it online.  It's free!
