When the AC is interrupted, the UPS issues an alarm and stops working and you see the following messages DC bus too high ( UPS from pulsar MGE 1500)Pulsar 1500 ART: 3400810100 SERIAL: 1Y3H28051 AC Volt 230V - 10 Input Amps 6.5A Hertz 50/60 Hz AC Volt 200/208/220/230 240 2501-10 Output Amps 7.5 7 26.8 6.5 / 6.36.GA Hertz 50/60 Hz WNA 1350W/1500VA
Where did you find this old UPS> ? I'd bet cash it did not just fail 14 years online TODAY.!?
Redux1 this is way too long but there are many sub models of PULSAR and non told yet. by you.
nor if TOWER OR RACK MODEL is your? wow. that. ? not the same batteries at all in both ever.
did not read your manual first.
14 YEARS old it is, and now owned by APC.com (a 2007 event)wiki it.
The HIGH DC means the Charger output is too high
or the 36v 3 battery loop is broken (no load equals charge voltage is too high DC bus)
if you have rack UPS and use 12vdc batteries, in it (not 6vdc as it must) the DC bus will be too high.
UPS is complex and more so not telling full model numbers of it and photo of if.
the LIST OF what can be wrong, (besides bad PCB inside)
wrong batteries, used, or connected wrong.
battery terms rusty. or just loose.
EXB option was enabled before (14 years ago?) and not reconfigured now that it is gone. now.
battery breaker rear tripped. in inside batteries and if EXB option the outside battery breaker tripped. on it.
wire backwards is prevented with connector keys, but if hacked , any thing is possible wrong,.
no photos of yours, the DC bus is 36vdc on the tower. 3x12=36v
AC LINE IN CAN BE SET 100VAC TO 480VAC, (TO COVER WORLD POWER USED)
if not configured day1, correctly there is no hope, only smoke.
what AC voltage is your country, (at home are you) and freqency, 50 or 60HZ, (most are auto set for Hz)
MGE is nOT MEG. at all. sorry but typos like that make help super hard.
just one of many 1500, I can not guess what your REALLY is, Pulsar has many sub models.
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/821986/Mge-Ups-Systems-Pulsar-Extreme-1500.html?page=1#manual
MGE is now owned by APC for 14 years today, UPS company (a top maker)
and this model is not supported now it is too old,,, found in garage sail for $1 USD, I'd pass on that.
and APC does not support this very very old UPS now. they chose not to support it, but gee call them and ask.
Apc.com, click support , and contact them.
next time post photos of front and rear.
and full model number not just "Pulsar 1500," shortened like that. and MGE not MEG.
and what country you live and if at home or using commercial power , 100v or 480vac or what. LINE POWER.?
last , is , if you buy a used UPS outside of your country it will be wrong AC input line voltage. and must be cured first. by strapping or configuration settings,
I have never seen any UPS made that works in all countries, and the few that do many, must be strapped first.
how that is done is covered in every UPS MANUAL made, in the world.
if done wrong this test step, you will get smoke or worse fire. (only fuse can save you from that done wrong)
never bypass fuses OK
and if doing other hacks say so, tell the hacks , like using the wrong batteries.
Testimonial: "Thanks I have ups for a long time. I changed the old batteries with a new one and this is what happened. Persar 1500 ART: 3400810100 SERIAL: 1Y3H28051 AC Volt 230V - 10 Input Amps 6.5A Hertz 50/60 Hz AC Volt 200/208/220/230 240 2501-10 Output Amps 7.5 7 26.8 6.5 / 6.36.GA Hertz 50/60 Hz WNA 1350W/1500VA"
the only support is here, ask them? (APC is MGE in 2007) long ago
the UPS was sold same year new,2007. same year as buy out.
https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA163635/
the old MGE web site shut down ages ago, above is all there is. ask them for help.
uses 3 batteries, my guess wired in series. , common gell cell type.
Voltage: 12V (12 Volts)
Capacity: 7Ah
Terminals: F2
the RACK version uses 6 batteries, layed flat. and NOT THE SAME. as above.
tower/?http://specsan.com/uninterruptible-power...
and last this.
Connection of additional battery: Yes;
that means you must first configure the UPS to use what battery options you have, again RTM/
there are no 14 year old batteries good now, if that is what is inside the UPS, that will never FLY.
Thanks ??
AC Power world wide, where are YOU, .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_elec...
i use these to bench test your 3 batteries. cheap easy loads.
car CAR LAMPS (HEAD sealed beam)https://duckduckgo.com/?q=sealed+beam+in...
see all the Pulsars here, IDK yours.
https://www.manualslib.com/brand/mge-ups...
lots of 1500 Pulsars, not just one model, find yours?
see HOW tower and rack models are NOT the same? read the correct manual.
also most of these are USA AC power.
see this page 23
I post these so you can see lots of things that can be wrong, NO UPS model told no really.
6V 7,2A Bat (in 800VA Rack)
12V 7,2A Bat (in 800VA Tower)
6V 9A Bat (in 1100VA Rack and 500VA)
12V 9A Bat (in 1100VA Tower
Connector for battery EXB module
got that< if yes it must be turned off of the EXB was lost or set up as EXB before.
EXB means external battery option.
if you do have EXB box(battery box option) there rear show this in the manual
(11) Connectors for battery modules (to the
UPS or to the other battery modules)
(12) Connectors for automatic recognition of
battery modules<<<<< see this?
(13) Protection circuit-breaker<<<< see this?
the EXB option doubles the battery count from 3 to 6 on the TOWER model only
some models have this features. (then)
Single phase 100 / 120 / 140 V / 160 V / 184 V to 284 V
50/60 Hz (autoselection)
now these words
Adjustable from 200 V to 250 V using the UPS Config software.<<< read this first.....
(7) Frequency-converter mode is programmable using the UPS Config software
well that is what I can glean on all 1500 MGE, and you need all manuals in the set to get all facts.
as you know know, I can not tell what UPS model you really have nor your country.
if you bought the USP (14year old) from another country, that too not told. and and matters.
UPS from pulsar MEG 1500
they made many UPS with that name and is not complete, lots of Pulsar models.
no photos of yours front and rear , posted so we can tell you what manuals apply.
and on many the AC line input options must be set first and battery count 2nd.
using the CONFIG software you lost right?
The manuals do not cover, how the maker employs the EXB feature
but my best guess( tower model) the 3 extra batteries are in parallel to the 3 inside.
and once connected the jumper on the EXB must be inserted n the EXB, rear.
and all Battery breakers not tripped, internal nor EXB rear.
the voltage is still 36vdc (tower) EXB or no EXB.
the rack model is a whole different animal, (a horse of a different color , OZ)
next time post photos,
my guess is your post is not serious , as in found it in a flea-market for nada $ and seemsdead.
and is.
and far far worst that 14year old batteries are still good. wow.
and now the rest of the story (akin to Paul Harvey RIP)
I was going through passed away, grandpa (RIP) old old full of junk attic (mine too and has dead UPS in mine)
and found this old pig, UPS
i dusted it off and stinks of smoke.
i try 3 new batteries and i fails. old batteries swollen like pregnant pigs.
what now.?
well buy new UPS, this time.
Thanks for all
ok more facts helpl
I changed the old batteries with a new one and this is what happened.
where the old batteries and new exactly the same voltages and Amp/hr and sizes?
Persar 1500 ART: 3400810100 SERIAL: 1Y3H28051 AC Volt 230V - 10 Input Amps 6.5A Hertz 50/60 Hz AC Volt 200/208/220/230 240 2501-10 Output Amps 7.5 7 26.8 6.5 / 6.36.GA Hertz 50/60 Hz WNA 1350W/1500VA"
did you fined and read the manual?
no batteries put in backward
no external battery option right?
battery fuse not blown,.
HI DC means 1 of 2 things
batteries not connected or bad, wiring to them wrong,or bad or connections or fuse to them blown.
or the CHARGER inside the UPS IS BAD
that is my answer. gee a 14 year run on any UPS is like (you be luckly)
yes , costs lots of money to prove charger is bad and batteries new prove that.
sorry for cash lost if is.
this UPS is not supported by the new owners. now. it is an out cast.
more ,what does DC bus mean and why is it so important to the UPS firmware monitors.
1: the UPS does not want over or under charge the batteries, ever, if yes short lived batteries happen
2: and uses that rule only FOR The specified battery so if you use the wrong battery or use 6v batteries it fails.
3: high rail means , batteries cells are open or means charger inside went berserk (stuck way too high)
4: or battery connections are wrong or bad in any way, 3x12vdc I think 36vdc total, in series, (IIRC)
heck 14 years is a good run, for sure.
I posted all this due to lots of old posts same topic, with no answer or in complete or wrong
this maker of UPS company was bought out ages ago 15?years.
APC.com runs the show now, so ask them is the beast answer (or support)
