Hi Betsy Angelcor, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
can you elaborate on print in black statement.
Are you printing a photo or a text document from word ?
what paper type is being selected in program printing out.

have you tried a deep clean on the printer ?
Had similar problem with the latest refillable ink type cannon printer and a number of deep cleans from the printer utility software fixed my issue.

Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly When replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed properly. If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head.

  1. Check that the printer is powered on and open the front cover.

  2. Wait until the print head moves to the center.

  3. Check if the ink tanks are installed properly.

SOURCE: My Canon MP190 will not print with only the black

the ink can probably just be left empty in the tray, this will be color has no ink left, but black dose, hence you should be able to print with the black only now. taking out color or tricolor will result in nothing being printed. some printers have the option to select black and white print modes only, this will be your best bet to use only black and white. and will yield more then 15% efficiency over color that uses far more ink due to pixelation and blending modes.

Try cleaning the cartridge strip or remove the black cartridge and place it correctly and check whether the hook which holds the cartridge is in proper position.

I have a Canon PIXMA MP250, and it's printing black and faded lines alternatively. (one line black, one line faded black...), sometimes involve blue too.. Anyone can help?

First, are you running low on those ink colors? If not, possibly print cartridges need cleaning. If printer has separate print heads, they made need cleaning.
Lastly, print head(s) may need replacement.

I have a canon pixma mp250 printer and i can't find the manual to explain how to replace the black ink cartridge.

To change the ink, make sure that the printer is on (green light is lit). Then lift up the entire scanner unit and latch the support on the right. Wait for the cartridge carrier to move into the ink cartridge replacement position. Open the cartridge cover on the right hand side by pinching the front and the tab on the top together; then lift it upwards. The cover will rotate towards the back of the printer. Pull the empty cartridge back out of the slot. Open your new cartridge and peel off the protective tape. (Do not touch the electrical contacts or the nozzles.) Place the new cartridge in the slot (slide it forward). Then rotate the cartridge cover back down until it clicks. If you do not need to change the color cartridge, lift up on the scanner unit until the support unlocks. Then carefully lower the entire scanner unit to close it (don't pinch your fingers or drop the scanner unit). If the orange Alarm light comes on, check that the cartridges are correctly installed and the cover is in place. Wait until the printer recharges ink system before sending a print job or copying a page.

Canon has the documentation for the MP250 on their site: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mp250#BrochuresAndManuals (for the manuals) .

I hope this helps.

Hi,

How much time you have done refilling a same cartridge? You shouldn't refill a same cartridge more than three times. Make sure that the cartridges are OK. May be the head of the cartridges are not in good condition. You may need to replace cartridge. Check that you have installed the cartridges properly or reinstall it. Align the cartridges. If it doesn't solve your problem then you have to replace the cartridges. Using original cartridge always is recommended.

Did you use Canon cartridges or generic ones? Sometimes if you do not use brand specific cartridges the printer will realize this and not print correctly.
