Check the sensors, usually located near the bottom of the lift rails on each side of the door, they need to be aligned, usually most have a led light that is green when aligned. If anything is blocking the path of light between them, as in, they cannot see each other, maybe from misalignment or something in the way, the door will not open or close. Some doors also have a safety sensor on the bottom of the door itself, it is meant to activate if it touches something like toy or something on the ground. sometimes they can be faulty for some reason and prevent the door from working, these are meant to be safety switches to prevent kids from being crushed or otherwise hurt. Next, see if you can open and close the door manually, is it "free" up and down. Most units if it "feels" restriction or resistance they will not operate, another internal safety switch. Next, can you operate the door from the switch in the garage, but not the remote, if so, check the battery in the remote.

Liftmaster 1245 led blinks five time but door will not open

5 flashes of the LED is the code for "RPM sensor or motor overload." You can try unplugging the opener for about 15 minutes to see if it resets itself. Normally if it is the RPM sensor the motor will run for a few seconds and then turn off. Is the door not opening or not closing? Just checking to make sure.

Garage door goes down a foot and goes back up. light by learn button flashes five times

That light is sending the code for RPM sensor or motor overload. Most likely it is the RPM sensor which is a small circuit board just in front of the motor. The part number is 41C4398A and is available at any good door opener service company.

Sensors are working properly. That is not your problem. The light blinking 5 times is sending the code for RPM sensor or motor overload. Most likely if it is doing this with the door closed it is a bad RPM sensor which is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor.

Door will not close with remote.

The code you are seeing with 5 blinks is "RPM sensor or motor overload." We can eliminate the motor overload because the door is trying to close. The RPM sensor is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor. It's a snap to replace and is available at any good door opener company. They will know exactly what you are talking about if you ask for an RPM sensor board.

Craftsman Garage Opener Clicks only and LED blinking 5 times

Just fixed this problem tonight. Had the 5 blink/flash thing. Opened it up and saw that the motor wasn't spinning so it wasn't a bad rpm sensor. Jumped the red to black and then the blue to black to verify motor worked. At that point assumed it was the logic board not telling the motor to start, but I could hear the click of the relay. Pulled the logic board out and noticed a solder joint that had failed directly behind one of the relays. Resoldered that joint and the garage door opener worked again like a dream. Hope that helps someone else.

Craftsman 1/2 horsepower not working

Five flashes indicates possible RPM sensor failure. First try unplugging opener for five minutes and plug back in. If it still does not work replace RPM sensor.
