The monitor is probably on protection.
To start unplug monitor
from power and from computer and test computer with different monitor
to find out if it is monitor or computer fault.
If it is computer fault and no video signal , then test:
- Video cable.
- Video adapter on PC (sometimes integrated on motherboard)
- Motherboard.
If it is monitor fault , then the monitor is on protection.
When on protection you keep having a flashing
led on front of the monitor , and monitor turning off by itself after a while,
that indicates a fault condition.
The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.
1The
internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic
charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read
by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the
protection circuit.
2 The protection circuit detected a wrong
voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in
, starting the flashing light.
If
you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging
power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.
If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.
Common
faults
that can occurr are a blown capacitor on power board, faulty inverter
board, faulty input board, or a fault on LCD Digital Controller board.
Check also
the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you
can get same flashing state because of the video cable.
Try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.
If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual
If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.
Hello Anita, no monitor told ,model and no PC told if is a PC , id not guess
ALEX I'd like to try topic " What's my PC "at $500 please? Jeopardy! (RIP Alex !)"crickets"
we can not guess 2 decades of monitor nor what it connects to...
Is this for a computer?>???
on the monitor turn it around, just like we do on TVs
we look for the service tag on the monitor
is has LG model number FOR SURE.
unplug it from the wall for 1 hour , then test it again
if for a PC
then PC off , keep it off
then turn the monitor on now
if the monitor shows the LG log that means it is not dead.
red power lamp on monitor glows. is not a good sign for most monitors but no model told yet
then same thing (PC off) turn monitor on and push the menu button on them monitor and see the OSD pop up menu, do so under 15 seconds or the monitor goes to deep sleep. (by design)
that will test the monitor by it self for good or bad.
this is just step 1 testing once it is good we do the PC next.
when you said LG all I see is useless this.
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=LG+monitors&at...
see? we can NOT GUESS your hardware , post photos if confused.
see this pit of monitors endless
https://www.manualslib.com/brand/lg/moni...
sorry no CAN GUESS THEM, read the tag on the rear or answers will be dead wrong.
tell 2 things what monitor is
and what you want to connect it to, or is now, not told.
PC's
DVR
NVR
CCTV security systems;
or even to TV?
random book of 1000s of LG,,
it says, RED = power good
red blinks, is sleep mode, called power saving mode
this means PC is dead. or stuck on sleep mode, if in fact it is a PC there.
here is my random pick
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/516537...
see? you can read the manual at any time
then ask why monitor is sleeping
answer.1:
turn off PC, and monitor both even unplug them from wall AC jack (this is PC reset 1)
leave off for say a 1/2 hour.
turn on PC first. (wait for 5minutes, hear PC fans spin or even windows startup music.(blind)
then last turn on the monitor connected to PC if PC has GPU card it must go there.
now the monitor will tell you what is failing. (as a text error now) learn this skill?
it will say NO SIGNAL or NO CONNECTons..or no sync or out-of-range.
if monitor has 2 or more inputs, jacks tell it the one you use now, in the MON. osd menus
if PC is dead now, the monitor tells you it is going to sleep/power saver mode last. after this error sent.
see that, now you know what is bad.( PC I;d guess)
if you tested the monitor on a 2nd known good PC, you'd have seen the monitor works, easy and simple tests.
if yes, then the PC is dead and we work that problem
