Philips HTS3455/98 System NO SOUND

The power cord plugs into the power amplifier, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/175139/Philips-Mcd716-12.html?page=10#manual. The DVD player won't turn on without the control cable. Since the power amplifier only has a volume control, you can't do anything with the home theater system (change input, set the tuner frequency) without the ribbon cable.

did you check in the set up might set to off, if the settings is ok check the speaker if worn out. now if the speaker is still good at this time you will need to have trouble shooting in the amplifier circuit at the main board weather the amplifier is bad.

It is possible that the amplifier had encountered a fault with a higher current drain which had triggered it to a protection fault condition. The fault can be with your output drivers. Please check for short on the outputs fitted for both the channels. Use a meter after disconnecting to check for short in the drivers. Disconnect the positive and negative voltages to the output and see if the protect changes. Even a fault in the preamp stages that drives in high current into the output can shut the Amplifier. Sometimes this can be a noise which can be a HUM or HISS before the protect works. Faulty capacitors in these circuits also can cause similar issues and needs close observation.You need to confirm and replace the specific stages or outputs. If not there can be issues in the mother board. Maybe the protect circuit by itself is shutting off due to a faulty bias or there is a leak in any voltage/current sensing circuit. Also disconnect the speakers and test, if the amplifier comes out of the protect mode then check for short on the speakers.

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com
and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

Ideally since this a audio amplifier you can replace with the types that are in the market which can be done up by a competent service engineer.
You can choose the power output based on the wattage of the woofer as some of these companies do not have good support base and spares will be hard to find for a full board replacement. So if your speakers are in order then you can have this choice-- get opinion before you invest or else buy one home theatre amplifier off the shelf that suits the speakers.

To make sure that the external speaker is good or deffective try to use others speaker.If the other speaker work it means that your speaker is deffective and if the other speaker not work it means that the problem is the sound output amplifier or driver of the TV.You need to check the inner part othe TV.The board of the TV inside at the sound section, just fallow the speaker wire to the board,that is the sound section.Check if theres a loose connection.

the problem is dry joints om the main amplifier board or on the speaker wires.

most likely its the audio amplifier board where your having the problems
