My LCD tv went out....So i am using the spare tv. Problem is I have an HD cable box with like 5 different cables coming from it, I hooked it up to a converter (one of those smaller boxes that only has the 3 red white and yellow). I have great sound and a great pic, only its in black and white. Do i need a different box for the conversion...Do they even make hem for out of date TV's? HELP

You need an hd cable between your cable box and tv. They don't provide them for free. Once you plug in your hdmi cable to the tv, change its input to the hdmi port you just plugged into. The guide is updated by the cable system on their internet but over the coax. Give it time, it should come back. If not, reset the cable box by unplugging itfrom the wall power, wait 5 seconds, plug it back in. It should come back.
The cable box needs to be set to send different signals when using hd tv and standard tv. Usually a good setting would be 720p in hd and 480p in standard. The tv is working fine it is the cable box sending the signal. If you have another hdmi source such as a dvd player you may hook that up to show the tv is working just fine.
rene just installed hd cable box to hd tv. But there is not color except for blue and gold. Unplugged tv and the color is there as always, plugged tv back to cable box, no color
HD TVs do have different cables, I went to Time Warner and swapped my regular box for an HD box, the cable ends are blue red and white, I believe. Also in order for my box to work on the screen I have to switch to "Component" instead of "TV". Hope I helped!
If you are using component cables to connect your HD box to TV. Make sure your connections are tight. You should make the colors match up. Green, Red, Blue. Check on both TV and HD box. Make sure HD pox is powered on. Make sure to select TV input to Component 1 or whichever you are using. If this doesn't work you may need to call and have COX refresh the HD box. This can be done over the phone. This will make sure you are receiving and sending the proper signal level. Good luck
