Well you don't say WHY you want to take it apart Chase? Generally if you Google

make model replace element

it will get you as far as you need to go. You should be able to work it out. If not, get a professional to do it.

Testimonial: "To replace the drum itself I'm curious how to get the top and front off. Are you able to provide any information on that?"

Because even with a google search of what you recommended it does not show the Maytag I'm speaking of it shows one with the element in a different location

If you need to replace the drum, I would say it is time to replace it with a new dryer.

    Turn off Breaker or unplug.
Pull the machine out from the wall. Remove the screws that hold the top Controls Section.
Remove the screws that secure the top of the dryer and take the top off.
Remove the screws at the bottom front at the base plinth.
now remove the front panel and door.
    Disconnect the Door Switch
At the rear, you now need to remove the rear drum bearing.
Remove the belt by slacking off the idler wheel and slip the belt off the motor.
You can now lift the up at the front and out.

All the information above from memory when I had two Maytag Speed Queen dryers 20 years ago in England. I owned a hotel so they got a lot of use. I serviced them every year, also replaced a motor, front drum sides, belt and rear bearing. I never needed to replace a drum! :>)

Matag dryer not heating

Here is a link to maytag dryer repairs http://apcoappliancerepair.wordpress.com/?s=maytag+dryer . The most common problem is the thermal fuse. My question is. Does the heating element start to light. If not...... and you have changed the ignitor and thermal fuse. Then check the flame sensor to see if there is continuity threw it. Power to the gas coils and ignitor runs threw the flame sensor. CLICK HERE to see a flame sensor on a GE dryer. They are the same on most units but Maytag will be on the opposite side of burner chamber.

No power

The Thermal fuse could have gone bad. It comes as a kit with the hi-limit thermostat. Here's the link to the thermal fuse kit:

Maytag bravos dryer belt needs to be replaced

Check in the back and see if the belt has a wide span on it. If it does, it doesn't only go around the fan pulley but also the drum (Which is usually the case). THis being the case you need to look for and screws you can find on the dryer outer casing because you will need to remove the outer casing to get to the drum. If you look for screw on the upper part just inside the door many times the upper deck is on hinges and will tilt backward so you can view the top of the drum with the belt on it. Remember how it came apart; it goes back together in reverse manner. Once you usually find the belt tension pulley through the back of the dryer compartment, let the tension off the pulley and slide the belt off of it. Once you get the belt off put it back on just like the old one.

Maytag Bravos dryer tearing the "felt ring" on front of drum.

Mostly likely the cause was the skid pads came off or were missed aligned. You could have also jarred the drum but it doesnt matter because you want it fixed. So take off the front of the dryer after calling your local maytag dealer and making sure they have the felt, skid pads, belt, and rear rollers (just in case you find more problems).

Once you have this apart make sure you clean it good, take out the lint catcher and vacume all of the lint. No reason to put back together a nasty dirty dryer. Make sure you check the rear felt carefully and the rollers. This is a very simple job and shouldnt take more than about an hour. Make sure you take the door off first then the front panel and you have someone to help hold your tools while you think. Have fun
