NO PC told no OS told. , windows?, if yes what windows is it? XP or older?
why post at all not telling the most key facts. OS.+ and drive model.#
Plus 9 model is 6Y120P0 (or nnnnnLO) PATA drive, but the 6Y120M0 model is SATA. not told by you model.#
2003, 18 years old, never have I seen a drive this OLD work at all. the data sheet says 5 year life span.
this drive is what we call the SATA transitional drive.
first off this is HDD, a hard disks drive,
and maxtor is NOW SEAGATE.com
and this is not a SATA drive it is a ATE
as rule you do not need a driver for any windows system and any hdd made, 2001 to now.
it is plug and play but no PC told or what the drive is plugged in to like:
huge business printers inside.
CCTV systems old.
and more lots more things,, HDD are used.... not one I can guess.
all version of if are here, (spec)
if a PATA drive, (see 40 pins it is) it only works in relic PCs pre 2001,
the jumpers need to be set (non on SATA serial drive)
if have PATA PC and a CD rom drive, see PATA drive to master and CD to slave.
20years ago we that and older, long long ago.... if PATA.
Pata is parallel 40 drive. ATA
SATA is serial, 7 pin data. of which 3 are ground.
they sold that drive in 4 versions, of 6Y120xx (xx is version)
good luck posting lacking key facts.
why not ask these quesitons
is the drive still good, answer NO, all tests will fail. 18 year old drives, sorry....
will it work in a new PC ,no, not if drive is PATA version told above. PATA slots are GONE NOW.
will i need a driver, well for what OS,? no PC told,
if this is a pC, the PC is super old and has VIA, or Nforce(AMD) inside windows 10 does not support relic chip sets on motherboard 20 years old or older than 2007
if is the sata version and the OS is new, the hdd needs not driver at all. called PLUG AND PLAY..
XP up. XP is 2001 OS, so.... there you go, and XP is virus magnet.
THIS ONLY RUNS IN PATA OLD PC'S WITH A 40 PIN PATA , JACK MALE ON THE MOTHERBOARD.
no model told by you. this is 1 of 4 models.
sorry the PCs that ran this drive do not run windows 10 ,period. 2003. NO PC told at all, nor model drive.
Anon do not search the internet for driver for that.
I promise you will get infected with a nasty virus....
do not do that, or bad happens or heck for fun contact SEAGATE.com ask the owner this.
NO PC told no model drive told, no OS told, fail. no joy.
only drivers from MS or Seagate,
the key driver is not the silly drive
but the PCs motherboard ATA chip set, those are the ones you need to work first.
many chips sets old for PATA or SATA are not supported at all now, for newer OS.
even intel.com drop dead support for RST. (old versions)
no PC told there can be no joy, nor if the HDD is 40pin or 7pins, count them,
PATA is 40+4 (data + power)
SATA is 7_15 (data + power)
even 12 feet away I can see a drive and tell that. can you>?
the drive is rated only for 5 years life.
why no just ask how to test it first. ? no drive told yet. (I have one here, kept as a joke, and still works, PATA)
it has PATA to SATA converter on the rear. just to teach others it can do that.
maxtor diamondmax plus 9
that is the marketing bovine squat name, not real. model number.
the answer is DO not.
NO PC told , no told , HDD model told. (there are 4 models) not told.
m0/L0 OR P0??????
