How can I replace my Sonya dryer belt pulley

My pulley got worn on one side so the belt doesn't stay on and NOONE I've asked can find any parts for this kind of dryer. I desperately need to fix it because I can't afford a new machine.

Sonya and Panda, appear to be the same brand. Is this it?

Testimonial: "I went to the link and got the main page for Walmart. Then I navigated to pulleys. There are a lot but they don't tell what size they are. I need 2 3/5 inches in diameter. Many of the pulleys on Walmart.com have metal attached. Mine goes on the end of a drive shaft and the belt connects it to the drum pulley. The bottom has a small knob in the center that protrudes and has a screw hold to fasten it. I'm worried because all the websites selling pulleys don't show the backside of the item and it has to have that little knob. I could buy 20 different items before I get the right one."

The best way is to take it to a local appliance spares supplier and ask them to match it. Unfortunately, it is not a mainstream make. Or repair the old one with JB Weld epoxy putty.

should be doable as long as it does not have welded belt retainers,
if it has removable bolts or guards which help keep belt from falling off, remove these first. good luck

Why did the electric dryer belt came off the pulleys on my 8 year old dryer. Should I just replace the belt due to age? I don't want to put the dryer back together just to test it.

Richard,
If you are in that deep, I would recommend going ahead and replacing the belt. They usually are not that expensive and this will also give you peace of mind that your belt will not break any time soon. I would suggest checking your pulleys for excessive wear by seeing if they wiggle very much from side to side. I would also recommend taking a good look at your tension pulley to make sure that it is not worn out as well. I have seen those wear to the point that they can cause the belt to jump off. Hope this helps!

I NEED THE PROBLEM SOLVED ON 2001 DODGE NEON THE ALT BELT WONT STAY ON JUST A CLICK OR TWO AND IT COMES OFF COUPLE MONTHS AGO I REPLACED TIMING BELT HEAD GASKET AND VALVES IN HEAD WAS REPLACE PUT IT...

it sounds like you have a pulley alignment problem with one of the pulleys.did you have any left over washers or spacer not put back.the other problem is the belt tensioner may be worn and need replacing.these are the usual things that cause a belt coming off.if the belt is not on all the pulleys correctly it can throw a belt also.make sure there isn`t something(like a part of the timing cover)sometimes it doesn`t take much to cause this.

My LG Dryer (DLE9677SM) is making a continuous thumping sound throughout the cycle. Sounds like shoes in the dryer. Drum seems like it has excessive play in it...I can move it around from side to side.

you have a worn belt tensioner pulley that needs to be replaced. replace the belt as well for it will be worn from the bad pulley. the inner bearing has locked causing the roller to seize up receiving a flat spot on the roller making this drum thump

Replace belt on kenmore 97281100 dryer

You have to remove the front panel. The top folds back and there are 2 screws on the inside corners to release the front. Eric

My whirlpool dryer heat up. But does not spin.

Disconnect Power. Lift Cover on lint filter. Remove two Phillips screws taking care NOT to allow them to fall into the blower housing. Place putty knife in the seam between the top and front panel about 2” in from either side. Push in on clip while pulling control panel forward and tilting putty knife handle up, all at the same time. Same on opposite side. Raise top all the way.

Check for belt on drum half way back on the drum running from left to right. If belt is missing or broken replace with part number 341241 later in this process.

Looking down inside dryer on left and right see a 5/16" hex head screw about 6 inches down. Remove each side while holding front panel in place. Pull top of front panel about 3 inches forward from sides and then pull up. This will disengage the front panel from lower pressure clips and allow you to turn it sideways and expose the dryer interior. Rotate front panel to right to get it out of the way watching to ensure wiring is not damaged.

Place new belt over drum groove side down if old one was broken. Check white idler pulley for free rotation before installing in holes of floor under motor pulley. Replace with part number 691366 if rotation of pulley is not free or if it appears worn. Loop belt with ribs inward and pass through the open space in the idler arm below pulley then pass loop over motor pulley rib side down. The configuration at the motor should now look like the Whirlpool model in the image below:

Belt and pulley configuration

Grasp front edge of dryer drum and rotate counterclockwise slowly to align idler and motor pulley and to remove any twists in the belt.

Reverse disassembly process to re-assemble.

Samsung dv4006 dryer belt

Possible replacement belt quality problem for the Samsung DV4006 / DV4006J / DV4015J / DV665JW and the Maytag MDE2400AZW dryers:

The original belt for the Samsung DV4006 / DV4006J / DV4015J / DV665JW dryers is a Megadyne 1975 H7. The part number is DC66-00121A, but when ordered, a Dongil 7PH1975 belt may be shipped instead of the original Megadyne. The Maytag MDE2400AZW dryer uses the same belt. The part number is 35001010, but when ordered, a Dongil 7PH1975 belt may be shipped. It seems that the Dongil belts are inadequate for these dryers. They delaminate and may fail prematurely. Even new, they cause a thumping sound each time the seam goes over the motor pulley. Other than Megadyne, another good belt is the Hutchinson 1975H7. The appliance part number is 1258288107.

Where to get an original Megadyne 1975 H7 belt:

eBay member 'appliance-parts' in Colorado, USA has emailed me that their Samsung DC66-00121A belts are Megadyne. Website: http://appliancefactory.com Email address: [email protected]

eBay member 'ladydi1975' in Ohio, USA has emailed me that their Maytag 35001010 belts are Megadyne. eBay store: Discount Appliance Parts.

Where to get a Hutchinson 1975H7 belt:

eBay member: 'zodiac300_0' in Brighton, United Kingdom. I have ordered a 1975H7 belt from them and received a Hutchinson.

Other possible causes for belt failure:

--Motor pulley designed too small. The belt may be flexed beyond it's minimum rated radius.

--Excessive heat in the dryer due to lint in the vent line or vent line too long. The Dongil belt may be less heat resistant than the Megadyne.

--Worn drum bushing DC66-00062A.

--Metal burrs on the steel motor pulley. Deburr by inserting a small screwdriver in each groove while the motor is turning without the belt.

--Belt on the wrong track. The motor pulley has nine grooves and the belt has seven ribs. The belt must be in the middle. It's easy to place it one groove forward or backward by error.

--Small scratches on the drum where the belt contacts it. The scratches may be like small knives and damage the belt. Sand with a fine sandpaper.

--Idler pulley damaged or bearing worn.

How to replace the belt:

--Remove top cover.
--Remove vent panel (in back).
--Unclip door switch from front panel.
--Disconnect wire harness from door switch.
--Unscrew panel left of control console (from behind the panel).
--Unclip panel left of control console (from behind the panel).
--Unscrew control console.
--Unclip plastic panel on bottom, front
--Remove screws behind door. Remove door.
--Unscrew large front panel, remove.
--Inspect vent line for lint buildup, drum bushing (back of dryer) for wear, motor pulley for burrs and debris, drum for scratches, and idler pulley/bearing for damage.
--Vacuum all lint.
--Install belt around drum, idler pulley, and motor pulley. The ribbed side of the belt contacts the drum. The flat side of the belt contacts the idler pulley. Press on idler pulley to stretch the spring, and line up the seven belt ribs in the center of the nine motor pulley grooves.
--Reassemble.
