Hi,
I am sorry to say this...but chances are that your battery has malfuntioned or simply can't hold a charge anymore. If you want to be 100% sure try the battery in another PSP...and if it works then there is eomthing wrong with your PSP (this second scenerio is highly unlikely). I recommecnd getting a new battery. Good luck!

How would l charge my psp 1001 using my usb. thanks

PSP automatically charge itself when you connect the USB cable from the PSP to your computers USB port you should see the power light change from green to orange that is a sign of a charging state and if that did not happen connect the PSP on a different USB port on your computer because sometimes some USB port supplies less amount of power.

My psp wont charge

The psp isn't made to charge from usb by default, if you see that small yellow plug in on the either the side or the bottom, you should have a ac adaptor that came with it to plug in there.

My PSP will not turn on unless it is plugged into the outlet. When I try to turn it on by itself the power light flickers green for two seconds and then disappears. Also, the battery is fully charged. When...

replace the battery as it may be out of CYCLES even tho it says its fully charged if the battry is new your going to need a new element inside usually this consist of a new logic board under the battery pack.

good luck

I am not able to start my PSP 3000 I am using a usb cord to charge the PSP, I am getting the hold light however not getting the power on please assist

When you connect the PSP via the USB, does the orange light power on? If you are using the standard USB cable and attached to the top of the PSP, from experience, it needs at least to have a little amount of battery power. If not, it will not totally power on or charge. You need the A/C adapter to charge the battery pack.

I can charge my PSP through USB cable even if its powered off. I'm using this one:

My psp wont charg

If it won't charge and wont power up then same thing happened to me. If you are willing to open up your psp there is a video on youtube that can show you whats wrong. The cable that connects the buttons on the right side most likely disconnected from the main board and the right side of the psp including the buttons, the power switch and the top right trigger won't respond. When you try to turn on the psp and when its charging if the light won't come on then you might have this problem.

Brand new psp battery will not charge

Did you charge it first? You need a good initial charge. Depending on the charger, it could be about 6 hours.

Also, remove the battery and check the metal contacts on the top and make sure that they are not covered by anything. Some come with a film to protect them.

Power problems

Hi Gohan102,

Open the battery compartment, and remove the battery.  Look at the bottom inside corner for a little square sticker with has marks on it. is it dark or light,  If it is dark, your PSP has come in contact with moisture. I suspect that your PSP has gotten wet or damp.  If the sticker is dark, you need to keep your battery out for about 2 days, and keep the UMD door open and the whole PSP kept in a dry environment.  Try it after 2 days of drying to see if it is recovered. Good luck Gohan....
