Good point :>) Connecting it to a computer, may show it as a volume, but that would be all. As I said, you have an issue that no one else has ever put into Google. That means it is very, very rare.
Contact Pioneer direct. It will probably have to go to a Service Centre and be connected to dealer software.

Hi,
The (schematic) circuit diagram is included in the service manual. A downloadable pdf copy is available here.
Hope this be of help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
While I could not find it in the manual, I found that you must
go to the menu, open Sound Options and set Speakers to "Fixed".
Note: If you turn off the Surround Sound or DVD player combination you must then go back to the menu and turn the speakers back to Televsion.

Most have "hack codes" but yours is in a select group of a few that simply cant be done with a couple pushes of a button.
As far as I am aware the only way to get thesemachines to play Region 1 discs is to have them chipped. A variety of solutionsare available, and it needn't be expensive (typically £30 to £70) but youshould be aware that any internal modifications to your players wouldinvalidate the warranty. Have a look at the following web sites for moreinformation:http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-000-dvd.html

I know you were looking for a free solution you could do in a matter of seconds and sorry it didnt work out that way. Regardless, I hope I pointed you in the right direction and feel free to ask if you have any more question.
Happy Holidays,
TJ
