I have the MR-8 red and i have bought a brand new CF card AND card reader. The card is formatted to FAT 16 as it should be. I loaded the software upgrade on the card then followed the instructions as follows to upgrade:

1. MR-8 POWER OFF
2. Load up CF card with software
3. HOLD the STOP button down WHILST switching power on
4. The screen should then show the upgrade instructions..

What does mine do? STILL SHOW THE MESSAGE "CARD ERROR 06"
Plus none of the menu/stop button combinations work.... Is there anyone out there that can help at all I wonder?

Generally, a hard reset is initiated by pressing a dedicated reset button, or holding a combination of buttons on some mobile devices. Devices may not have a dedicated Reset button, but have the user hold the power button to cut power, which the user can then turn the computer back on.

Testimonial: "unfortunately, not this device... The on-off switch is not a button that can be pressed on for seconds but just a little lever. I guess there is a combination of buttons to be hold when switching on the lever, but I just don't know which ones. That I was asking, my dear..."

How do you uninstall and reinstall the drivers on my Fostex MR-8 HD/CD Digital Multitracker?

I don't remember telling you to do this...have you checked out google, or youtube?? There is a vast amount of free info on these sites....it is worth checking out....these digital recorders come with their own operating system...you must be talking about a factory reset....That should be in the owners manual....

Why does my mixer take so long to select something from the menu and why does it freeze up?

Sounds like you need more ram or computer space. You didn't list what time of mixer or computer so can only answer basicly. If using a computer (which it sounds like) see how much the mixer needs andhow much space available on your hard drive. This is called a latency problem. Basicaly how long does it take for the computer to respond to commands while it is doing a task. either get a bigger hard drive and more ram or clear out some files on your computer. You can also go into settings and change the settings. You'll have to look through the manual on latency problems.

I have a Fantom S keyboard. I have to press the the F above middle C a lot harder than the other keys to get any sound. How can I repair this?

Hard to say as they are a very complex machine. However have you tried a factory reset - check the manual - its a certain key/button combination. You will losse any special settings but glitches are often solved by a reset. Good luck Bruce

I have a Boss VF-1 Processor, the screen lights up but no information shows. I did the company reset but still no change. Is the unit worth fixing? Solomon

Hi, sorry I can't solve it for you. I have the same problem with the VF-1. I flashed the unit to upgrade it. All seemed fine but when I turned it on all I got was the light powering on and a blank screen. Also how do you reset the unit without going being able to use the menu. Is there a key combination??

Sounds like a HD (hard disk) failure to me. I would suggest contacting your supplier.

My Fostex MR-8HD recorder's LCD display won't show me anything when I turn on the recorder. Everything else power's on and works properly. I can even hear it it working. I can't see the LCD display...

Check if the display has a contrast control. When these get turned down, the display is blank. Sometimes they are a littel shaft coming out of the case, other times it is a setting in a menu... how they expect you to see the display to set it in these cases is beyond me...

Hello. It's my first time on this forum. I just got a Fostex VF08 multitrack recorder from a friend of mine. But when I switch it on, the display is just orange, showing no text. All the commands seem to...

You will need to put th set on for really some time. I assume that the person who gave you must give more information if the recorder was working prior to this or was idling for along time.
If so leave the set on and allow the electronics to bring up voltage to all stages.
If there is no result look near the display unit the links, the cconnectors and the processor.
Now is your experienced friend can check out the prrocessor and display interface we can have some leads.
So check this out and respond

Oh, oh... that is often called the "Dreaded MIDI Drone".

There ccan be more than one causes, however two of those are this:

1. The receiving device either does or does not respond to the note off command or only responds to the note on command with zero velocity, which is also now interpreted as note off. Check the MIDI implementation chart to determine this.

2. Two MIDI commands have merged without using a MIDI merger which makes sure ONLY complete MIDI commands are sent. If the commands are mixed, dreaded MIDI drone is assured.
