I have a PRO 900 DCX. The foot control does not activate the serger. I remember someone saying there is a button to press to activate it but I can't remember where it is

The foot controller was pressed (or the start/stop button was pressed if the foot controller is not connected) and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button was pressed while the presser foot is raised. Lower the presser foot lever before continuing the operation

If the thread guide in printed on the side of the door or on the machine, you will need to follow the threading sequence.

Turn off the power.

Raise the thread antenna to it's highest position.

Open the tensions (set at zero). If the serger has automatic tensions, raise the presser foot as this also opens the tensions.

Turn the handwheel so the loopers are at their highest position.

Begin threading from the right to the left - lower looper is usually the first to be threaded.

After threading, set the tensions back to the normal setting and stitch a chain of thread and it should be knitted/interlocking.

Try and loosen the screw, and use a magnet to pullout the broken piece. It likely slightly bent in there so you may need a pair of tweezers as well
