the answers are all here, and specific drives, at videohelp.com , make and model of drive.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD-Video#...

exact cures are buy a DVD drive that is region free
cure 2, buy drive that can be switched, there is list of drives that can be here
    https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks?dvdpl...

keep in mind drives made from 1996 to now , can or can not be set region free, , one must get the model of your drive first. and look it up here.

    there are only 3 cure
    buy only your region disks,
    hake your drive.
or buy a drive this is region fee. (no country told by you, more your region)

my guess you ment Craig, dedicated, DVD player right, and is NOT A PC right?
no model told of your Craig. so, there can be no exact answers possible. ever. like that

DVD drive is pure hardware and firmware,
and the latter dictates REGION, and varies by model and version of firmware and country sold.

ask at videohelp.com, on THEIR forum.

Most Dvd players can change the region settings. This must be done with the player EMPTY. Do you know what country the DVD you want originally came from? This will be needed to get the correct region for that disc.
You will need to go into the player's Settings menu. Somewhere in there there is a setting where you can swap between regions before you enter the disc.
If you comment below with the model number of your player I might be able to give you a more detailed method.

sorry not true "MOST", some are, some are not, I'd say most are not 1996 to 2021 or now.
in fact the worst are Toshiba drives, and Philips is best. for hacks. OK learn to read the facts at videohelp first.

also varies country drive was sold ! or where exported TO.
    drives firmware versions.
and the exact model of the drive.
those are facts, but no DVD player told at all, full model so answers are guessing and or generic.

dvd #1 goal by DESIGN was in fact to do just that block regions wrong.
and does it first thing , as the dvd drive firmware executes.
the only exception to this is some counties or regions 3,4,5 6 countries, sell region free drives.
not one person here told his or her regions, but all dvd drives have region locks
some can be turned off easy case by case
this is why DVD was invented. to cure VHS weaknesses vast.

Play my dvd's

The Region setting maybe incorrect.
To change the Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region and Passkey for Blueray that allows you to play Bluerays from any region.
There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

Message "wrong Region" appears in my Sony DVD -

DVD region is an anti-piracy method to block DVDs from other countrys to be played on a region where that DVD isn't available for selling. You still can watch that DVD by changing the DVD Player region code from options but be aware that you have a limited number of changes, after changes reach 0 you cannot change DVD region code anymore and your DVD player will be stucked to a certain region that you selected.

Philips DCP750/37 shows "wrong region"

Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.

The DVD player does not recognize disks that it used to play before.

It sounds like the DVD region (a setting in both your OS and your DVD hardware) may have been changed. DVD regions are the agreed upon method (by entertainment companies, hardware manufacturers and governments) to limit cross-border sharing of media. Most valid (read: non-pirated) DVDs have a region code. Your DVD drive will only play DVDs with a region code that matches the DVD region code set on the DVD drive.

You didn't mention your OS but if you are running Windows XP then go to Start->Control Panel->System->System->Hardward->Device Manager and find your DVD player. Right-click the DVD player and select Properties from the menu and you should see a properties dialog-box with a DVD region tab. This is where you can change the DVD region that your player will recognize. Be careful, don't play around here, most DVD players have an embedded limit on the number of times (4-or-so) the DVD region can be changed.

Hope this helps.
