You need to unhook the speakers and try the power again. When the protection light comes on it either means that the speakers have to low of a resistance or are shorted or there is another issue with the power, We need to be sure it is not the speakers. If the light goes out, power it off and hook up ONE and try again then keep going till you find the bad one. You did not say what amp it is so that is all we can provide

SOURCE: clarion stereo in1997 mercury marquis wiring hook up to amplifer

make sure the speaker wires in the car do not have one side grounded.the output on the clarion is a floating output and cannot be grounded.the best solution is to look at the wiring on each of the speakers, and match them out to the ones on the clarion.the most common colr code is white front left, gray front right green rear left and purple rear right.each speaker has a plus and minus.mixing them up will result in the speakers being out of phase and result in poor bass performance.i would wire the wires directly to the clarion using crimp connectors.the first thing i would do is power up the stereo out of the car to 12 volts, and using a speaker make sure you have sound coming out.the yellow wire which is the clock/memory is a must to be connected to constant 12 volts or no sound can result

Ford f250 wiring harness does not have a turn on lead to connect up to the adapter harness for the stereo

You haven't indicated a YEAR for your F-250... but most 2000 era F-250s do not have an external amplifier to power on. The speaker amplification comes directly from the radio.

In this case - the remote turn-on wire is not used. Simply terminate it properly.

Thanks!

I have a red light right next to my ground remote and power wire Connecters and it comes on red and then turns off what's my problem

Ok, need more information, but I will tell you what I am assuming. I assume you are talking about an amplifier. Does it work after the light goes off? If not, It sounds like your amplifer is either going into protection, or that your amplifier is malfunctioning.

If your amplifer is going into protection, you need to check wiring. Most amplifiers go into protection if they sense an amperage anomoly (ie. fluctuating high and low, or overload). This would be a good thing because it's protecting your amp. But it's also frustrating, because now you have to find the problem. If your issue is wiring, I recommend starting from scratch. It's a pain, but will save you the frustration of checking every little thing and there a lot of things to do with the wiring. Always use a multimeter when checking for good ground placement. This tends to be a leading problem with amps shutting down. Also, inadequate guage wiring can also be an issue. Happy Hunting.

How do i fix my Power Acoustik LT-980/2 car amp, it keeps on going into protect mode.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you

12 volts to amp, when connected no volts, it turns on in my friends car.

The ampliflier require an amount to power volts to perfrom. You friends car may have a power stabilier installed to produce appropiaet supply to stereo systesm. usually, a direct wire from the engine to the amplifer may least function as manufacturers default specifcation. If the amplifer performs at all, a fuse is blown to protect the devices in wiring cuircuits. if the device functioned in another car, it is not damaged. Consult with an auto electrician to attain appropiate wirign or acqurire the component parts to wire the vehicle. Important notes. Each device usually will have an instruction on installing. However, the power source from engine depending on type of vehicle may require regulators to share the current to stereos amplifiers and speakers.

The radio and the cd turns on but no sound comes out after having the battery replaced. The vehicle is a 05 Mercury Mariner

radio runs off two power wires, one full time power and one switched power check to see which is working. turn the key to acc. and see if power stays on with car off, check all fuses. open the hood and look at battery cables, look to see if everything was hooked up right and if there is a amplifer in your car could be a fuse on the line to the amp either next to the battery or next to the amplifer.

Alpine CDE-9845, no audio from cd's either normal or mp3. Tuner works fine. Where to troubleshoot?

You have the wrong blue wire connected.
Your power antenna wire is hooked to the amp remote wire and vice versa.
Your radio thinks the tuner is off - and is dropping the signal thru the power antenna wire - and turning off your amplifer.
Switch the 2 blue wires in your install - and you'll be all set.

I have my amp hooked up but it isnt getting any power can you tell me if i have a bad amp or if i need the speakers and sound for it to come on?

With all amplifiers for a car, you must have the main power connections B+ and ground connected, and then you must also have the remote turn on connected as well. This is the way the amp turns on. It comes from the radio and is usually the blue wire from the harness off the back of the radio. When the radio is turned on, the blue wire gets 12 volts sent to it so it can turn on an external device like an amplifier or the power antenna. Make sure you have this connected to the amp and that the radio is turned on. Then check the voltages at the power terminal of the amplifer. You will have the ground, the main B+ of 12 volts, and then the turn on voltage of 12 volts. If you have all of these, then you need to troubleshoot it more. It will turn on without the speakers connected, but I am not sure why you would want to connect it without the speakers. It will also turn on without the RCA cables connected for the audio input as well. But just to turn on the amplifier, all you need is those three things i mentioned. Let me know if you require any further help.

Protection light lights up for a second and turns off and the amp seems like it is not working. It is connected and wired correctly.

disconnect the speakers from the amplifer, and turn the system on again. if the protection light still is active even without the speakers hooked to it, then it is most likely that you have a blown transistor in either the power supply section, or the output section.

Either way, your amplifier will need to be serviced.
