I would check to see if the correct sync pulses are getting to the servo processor firstly.

SOURCE: 8mm analogue camcorder tape playback at double speed

If you ran it through that many 8mm players, I'm going to say that the tape has something wrong with it.

You can see visually if there is anything wrong with the tape by releasing the cover by moving the tape and visually inspect the tape for anything that could be frayed. Usually you can see it on the bottom of the tape.

Sometimes the takeup can be messed up in the tape too. Once you release the tape cover, you can turn the white wheels to see if there is any slack in them.

Good luck on that.

SOURCE: Samsung scl860 camcorder wont play

OK well when this happens it means that the special extra set of "Heads" that are used to play the hi 8 tapes is faulty and needs to be replaced. This is a common thing for these types of units. This is NOT a task for the uninitiated at all, it is a very difficult and fiddly task even for a professional.
So accordingly the best way to effect a repair is to get it done by a professional. You need to contact a Samsung head or local office and ask them for a referral to an authorised service center. Now make contact here and then when in face to face contact, then only first ask for a 'Quote" as to the costings of any prospective repairs and got from there?

Fast tape playback for samsung vp-l770 can't watch at normal speed on camcorder?

Tapes recorded on one camcorder very rarely play back satisfactorily on another machine - you will have to use your old camcorder to view them, or else get them transferred to DVD

I have a Samsung camcorder and when I play mini dv tape recordings from Canon camera I recorded on , the sound is distorted

If the tape plays correctly in the Canon camcorder, here are a couple of possible reasons for the issues you are having:

1. the Samsung camcorder has a cleaning issue - try running a dry head cleaning tape for about 5 to 10 seconds and see if that helps.

2. The alignment is off between the two different camcorders. Nothing you personally can do about that, but a repair center would be able to correctly align the tape path on both camcorders.

Do the tapes that you record on the Samsung have issues when you play them back on the Samsung? If so, you have a problem with that camcorder (may be cleaning, but could be a mechanism problem) Hope this has helped you. www.austintelstarservices.com

All of a sudden, my Samsung camcorder (sc-d372is

i suppose that your camcorder has a dirt on the tape head actually i experienced that aswell and i just buy a new tape to rewind while playing the tape so that the dirt from the tape head will dissappear. by the way im not giving you this advice. i suggest that you buy a tape head cleaner or camcorder tape head cleaner. im just sharing you my experience about my camcorder. if the problem still persist then send it on some samsung customer center or a camcorder technician.

I have a samsung SCL860 Hi8 camcorder. It will not turn on even when plugged in to adapter, with or without battery. It will not even indicate a charge when plugged in.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU BLEW A INTERNAL FUSE TO THE MAIN BOARD. IT IS VERY COSTLY AND IS HARD TO DO.. SORRY YOU MUST GET A ANOTHER ONE. YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK FOR A CANON ?

SCL860 Hi8 Samsung Camcorder wont turn on or charge

I don't know if this will help at all but I have had to push the adapter into the camera further than my initial try before it would start charging. Check to see if you can push it in any further.

Problems with playback of HI8 tapes...

What's happening is that the tape in the cassette is being chewed on one side by the camera's tape transporting mechanism during playback, hence the distorted image and sound. The mechanism might be damaged (misalignment) or just dirty. Try not to play other tapes on this unit because they will become permanently damaged. The best way is to find another camcorder (if cleaning does not help). Note that some old cassettes of long recording time will exhibit this behavior more often because of thinner tape used.

Transferring camcorder tapes to VHS

It depends on what speed these tapes were first recorded on. Maybe the camcorder your trying to use to play them back do not support this tape speed I have seen this in the past. Are these 8-MM or VHS-C tapes.. Also the tapes that were recored, maybe tyhere was something wrong with the tape path and was slightly out of alighnment. I had once a Sony 8-MM camcorder and tapes a lot of stuff and then gave them to someone to watch and they would not play. I tryed the tapes again in my camcorder and they worked great. I got a test tape and tryed it in my camcorder and it turned out the tape path alighnment was off, so i had to rerecord everything I had from one camcorder to DVD so i could fix my camcorder. Good Luck
