SOURCE: Dell Inspiron 1100 Bios and ACPI

Please contact your system vendor for an updated bios. If you are unable to obtain an updated bios or the latest bios supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you that the F7 key was pressed - it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue your installation."

RESOLUTION
Manually install the Standard PC hardware abstraction layer (HAL):
1. Reboot the computer to restart Setup.
2. When Setup starts again, press F7 when you see the "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver" screen.
Windows automatically disables the installation of the ACPI HAL and installs the Standard PC HAL. You should also contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain a BIOS that is fully ACPI compliant

SOURCE: dell inspiron 1520 error code 2000-0146

I had the same problem and came across this solution that worked for me as well:
Re: windows Vista will not start 18 Aug 2009 07:28PM I was getting a the same error codes and couldn't get Windows to boot up at all. I went to BIOS set up (restart your computer and hit F12 when the BIOS screen comes up), went to onboard devices and changed the SATA Operations from ACHSI (don't know how it got there) to the factory default setting ATA. Then I started up in "repair mode" (which was an option that was coming up when I tried to boot up before but never worked) - it went through a repair check and went to login screen.
Prior to finding this - I tried several things including start up from the Reinstallation disc, but nothing worked. I was ready to buy a new hard drive, but don't have to. Works fine!
Not sure what caused the problem to start with. It is an "Inspiron 1520"

SOURCE: Will pass bios but then will not load windows

step 1. open up the case and locate your hard drive
step 2. carefully remove the cables and power to the hard drive and remove it
step 3. goto your local office depot, staples, walmart or radio shack and buy a nice new hard drive somewhere around 250 gigs should be plenty for you,
step 4. now that yopu have a nice new hard drive put it in the spot where your old hard drive was in the conputer and plug both cables back into the new hard drive, after this is done put your case back on and start the computer up with your windows cd in the cd rom drive and reinstall windows. :) hope this helps

Dell Venue 11 pro 7140 with error code 0xc000000f

PC came new with W10-64bit.
you meant just exactly after the upgrade it failed.
right, you meant the UPGRADE (from what?) failed hard.

that error means the boot files are corrupted.
easy if HDD bad. test it.
is the HDD good? did you use secure boot or legacy boot to do that,?
There are lots of possible cures. here.
one is to ask dell for help on there forum.
they can tell you how the original OS was set up.
and they also have your drivers.

no clues.

Dell 8300 not loading xp home with the blue screen of death

To resolve this behavior, contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain a BIOS that is fully ACPI compliant.

To work around this behavior, manually install the Standard PC hardware abstraction layer (HAL):
  1. Restart the computer to restart Setup.
  2. When Setup starts again, press F7 (not F6) when you see the "Press F6 if you need to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver" screen.
Windows automatically disables the installation of the ACPI HAL and installs the Standard PC HAL.

ACPI BIOS not fully compliant

w8000 a very old PC not supported by HP.
windows 2000 support ended like 15 years ago.. W2k. is gone. w2k only runs on very old pcs with very old ACPI
(power controls is that)

this PC is only supported with XP
never 2000.
HP tells you that if you looked.
park the 2000 disk or use it as frezzbee. IMO

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/compaq-evo-workstation-w8000/322279

id get w7 disk and use that, it might work.
but will cost you a license from MS,
about 5 times the value of w8000

why not just go here, and get used $20 w7 pc
save a bundle of case and grief messing with any legacy junk....avoid legacy junk and win.

ACPI error message

Hey there rcrozier, your solution is to disable ACPI in the BIOS. To do so, follow these steps. 1/ When set up is loading, a blue screen will appear asking if you have RAID devices, indicating pressing F6. Instead press and hold F7. This should prevent ACPI from installing. Alternately at the blue screen mentioned above, press F5 and hold. It should advance eventually to a new screen prompting you to press F2. Keep holding F5. It will give you another screen telling you it cannot recognize your pc type. It gives you two choices: standard pc or other. Choose standard pc. resulting in ACPI not being installed. Unfortunately the other result of this ACPI not being installed is that your power management will be reduced. Overclocking is not advised. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
