SOURCE: lg front load washer leaking from bottom of machine

I just fixed this problem - there is a rubber hose that hooks the bottom of the drum to the drain and recycle pumps - it is ribbed and it developed a hole. To confirm and repair (repair can be done from the front of the machine)

  1. Unplug the machine.
  2. Drain whatever water you can from the machine using the stoppered hose behind the bottom left panel
  3. Unscrew the visible screw holding the plastic in place near the drain hose and filter
  4. If you can pull the plastic recessed piece out, there is one screw visible behind it - unswcrew this. If you cannot pull it out now, you should be able to get it after you remove the screws in step 10
  5. Pull out the detergent drawer (push in the middle back "botton" to release the drawer to pull out fully)
  6. Unscrew two screws in the drawer area.
  7. Pull the top of the electronics assembly away from the machine and lift the assembly out (place on top of the machine or hook it out of the way)
  8. Open the door and remove the spring loaded wire around the door seal (be careful as the seal can be torn)
  9. Pull the seal away from the metal front panel, then close the door
  10. Remove four screws at the top of the front panel (that were behind the eletronics assembly) - If you already have removed the screw from step 4, proceed, otherwise lean the top of front panel out and pop the plastic out, hold panel in place and remove that bottom screw from step 4.
  11. Lift front panel about two inches, swing the entire front panel to the right and set against something - You should now be able to see inside the machine.
  12. There is a black hose right in the middle - when I squeezed mine a little, I could see where the water was dripping out from the bottom.
  13. There are three clamps - two that can be squeezed with pliers and removed, one that has to be unscrewed (phillips head screw - it is a bit blind as the screw faces the back of the machine) - Once I got mine off - I could see the hole.
  14. Order replacement and reassmble in the opposite order

SOURCE: leaking water

The o-ring and the plastic insert is broken. They may not have a part replacement, may have to get a new gun. Take the gun apart and you'll see the problem.

SOURCE: "UE" error code LG washer wm0642hw

This is an Imbalance code. Your issue may be with:

  • The load is too small
  • The appliance is tilted
  • Laundry is gathered to one side
  • Non-distributed things are put into the drum
Try adjusting the load size, and make sure the unit is level.

SOURCE: LG Tromm WM0642HW washer leaking water!

I also had water leaking from under the washer during rinse cycle only. I tilted the washer back far enough to get under it and found that the drain hose, part # 4738ER1002 had been punctured by my wifes bra underwire. Super easy to replace and the part is only about $18.00 on ebay.

What does it mean when it says PE on my lg wm0642hw washing machine

The PE error or fault code indicates that the machine is overfilling with water. This washer is equipped with a water level pressure switch. As the machine fills, the pressure increases on the switch, at the set pressure, the switch cuts power to the water inlet valve and the water stops flowing into the washer. If the pressure switch fails to sense properly, or the water inlet valve fails to shut off the unit can overfill. This situation can also be caused if the machine does not drain properly. First, check to see if water ever enters the machine when it is turned off. If so, replace the water inlet valve. Next, check the drain line to be sure it's not clogged or kinked. Next, check to see if the drain pump is working properly and removing the water from the previous cycle. If all of those check out, you may need to replace the pressure switch.

Water does not drain

Is the drain line clear? Also sounds like time on water inlet is running to long. Front loaders don't use that much water.

When I start the washer, water seems to seep in through the back and not through the sprayers? After the cycle is finished, clothes are still dirty, as if they never washed due to lack of water entering,...

I have a (2009 )WM0642HW.The new ones don't have the Forced Water Recirculation Nozzle that's in the top of the door seal. LG quietly (discontinued) that feature. If you do see a WM0642HW with a spray nozzle in top of the door seal in a showroom somewhere, it was a WM0642HW manufactured ( assembled ) a long time ago.Currently produced WM0642HW will not have the Water Recirculation feature installed. There may still be some older version "new" WM0642HW units out there somewhere? But most of them are display models or unavailable ,and with a shorter motor warranty. 7 years instead of current 10 years on new versions of the WM0642HW.But getting back to your question, the washer fills by water entering the cylinder through the back top left side of drum as it flows from the dispenser compartment via a hose. The opening is right behind the cylinder baffels location. It has no fill nozzle at the front gasket edge like some other brands have. My washer did not clean well at all with full loads. Only after i turned the water level switch under the top lid "clockwise" a half turn ,does it now fill up to the bottom of the door rubber seal.My clothing now tumbles in a pool of water instead of a WICK WATER RUB WASH that it was doing previously. It's a 100 times better with the few gallons of extra water inside, BELIEVE ME. What i say is from experience with this exact model.Turn up the water level so it can tumble in some water. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE! You'll have nothing but grief until you've had enough and have the desire to turn it up alittle.Just have it set to fill to the bottom of the door gasket.Everything will be saturated at the start of the wash and not towards the end of the wash segment.

LG Washer WM0642HW: Not enough water

Turn clockwise the water level sensor set screw a half turn "clockwise" under the top of the machine lid. This is the only way to rid yourself of the WICK WATER RUB WASH METHOD that is just terrible. Especially with a full load ! BELIEVE ME. I really wonder if consumers who have the WM0642HW earlier produced version with the nozzle spray system in the top of the door seal are having these troubles?. Mine is a 2009 verson of the WM0642HW, No Forced Water Recirculation. ( Discontinued) and how it was preset for fill at the factory made it perform terribly. Only after i adjusted the water level sensor does it perform well the first time around. Have yet had to rewash anything since the adjustment i made for the fill level. Good Luck.

LG Tromm WM0642HW washer leaking water!

I have the same problem - just a small amount of water leaking out from under the machine. I removed the top cover and found one of the water lines rubs on the vent tube and has wore completely through. Should be an easy fix, as the line runs from the #2 spigot on the water inlet to the detergent box - both connections are right on top.
