The dryer is indicating that the door is open. If you can verify that the door is latched, the latch mechanism or the control board may have been damaged during heating coil replacement.

Just to verify does it also beep six times? This model has the actual pushbuttons. Press all buttons lightly and see if any release. Disengage button.

SOURCE: touch screen

As a thought you may want to re-initiate the electronics. Don't know if this can help but it might:

It's called "Field Service Mode"
1. Press the POWER key to turn the dryer on.
2. Press HELP. The main help screen is displayed.
3. Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds. Press EXIT to return to the HOME screen.
This takes you through a processes of initializing the touch screen. I have a different problem on my Harmony dryer but I've used this to check diagnositcs.

my automatic cleaning setting in my oven will not heat up. I set "clean" on both dials and put the lock on, the fan comes on but no heat. Is there a certain system to turning it all on and the timer so it will work?

Try unplugging the unit from the wall, wait 5 minutes and replug back in. I had same thing happen to me a few months ago. I had to leave my stove/oven unplugged for 24 hours to finally get it to reset itself. It is working fine now.

SOURCE: The cycle signal beeps continuously and Error 68

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

The E68 is indicating a push button is stuck, refer to this chart below for explanation and potential remedy.

macmarkus_361.jpg

The reason this is happening can be for a couple of reasons. When a button is pushed, the contact inside the control is sticking in the "closed" position, or the plastic button which activates the switch, is binding on the console and not allowed to return via the small spring which insures it does under normal conditions.

To investigate further the console would need to be serviced/torn-down. I'd try the suggested test program first though, i.e.

macmarkus_390.jpg

If you think this is something you can perform let me know and I'll try to assist you in that manner. If the print here is too small to be clear, if you post an email address I can send you the test program and error clear mode, it's up to you.

Let me know how you make out or if anything is not clear and I'll help in whatever manner I can going forward. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Amana automatic dryer lga30aw won't push out gas and dry the clothes....any ideas?

Gas Dryer no heat: or shuts down soon after heating CHECK:

Thermal Fuse
If the air flow in the dryer is restricted, the temperature in the heating chamber can get hot enough to blow the thermal fuse. If the fuse blows, it cuts power to the coils that control the gas valve. The fuse is usually mounted to the exhaust duct just inside the back panel. You can check its continuity with an ohmmeter. If, after disconnecting the fuse, you get any reading other than 0 when you touch the leads of the meter to its terminals, it has blown. There's no way to restore it -- you'll have to install a replacement.
Igniter and Gas Valve Coils
TEST with a multi meter: The igniter is an electric conductor that works like the element in an electric heater, glowing hot enough to ignite gas when you turn on the dryer. This conductor can burn out, and when it does, it may glow, but it won't get hot enough to ignite the gas. At times it may give a reading of continuity yet fail mechanically and not get hot enough to ignite flame though it gets hot and glows and even may show Ohms or continuity ( close circuit) ?
Occasionally, the Gas safety valve and the electric coils that control the gas valve are defective -- they can wear out when the dryer gets old. When this happens, the igniter glows, but gas never enters the heating chamber or does not stay consistant.
Performing a continuity test on either part will help you determine whether or not you need to replace it. But the coils should also be tested for amount of resistance as well as Ohms. As they may be showing ohms yet not putting out enough resistance to keep proper gas pressure flowing. Most coils should show at least 1300 ohms ( GIVE OR TAKE 150 OHMS). Anything significantly less Thus u get an ignition but then it soon goes back out. The flame does not stay lit.
Air Flow and Heat
The motor that drives the tumbler also drives a fan that circulates air through the heating chamber and the tumbler and expels it through the vent. If the air can't circulate, perhaps because of lint blockage, the heating chamber overheats, which prompts the cycling thermostat to turn off the gas. The thermostat resets when the chamber cools, but the chamber heats up quickly and the thermostat again shuts off the gas. The result is that the temperature in the tumbler doesn't stay hot, and your clothes take longer to dry, if they get dry at all.
Warning
There's a big difference between a dryer that doesn't heat up at all and one that just doesn't get hot enough to dry your clothes. In the first instance, the problem is usually a defective part, and things should be back to normal after you replace it. In the second instance, the problem is caused by restricted air flow, and you need to clear the lint filter and vents and take steps to prevent lint build-up. If you don't, you'll use more energy for drying than you need and the dryer may continue to malfunction. Worse, you may have a dryer fire.

TAKES ALONG TIME TO DRY

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

You did not mention if the dryer was even warm to the touch during operation.

The generic service manual can be found here:

http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/RS3200007R0.pdf

I would follow the troubleshooting process in step 9 of page 21.

To gain access to the unit you will need to remove the service access panel Pg 28 of manual

Gas burner circuits steps are on page 32

A little about heat control circuits. They are series circuits and any one of the following can prevent the dryer from heating.

1. Motor switch
2. heat control
3. cycle thermostat
4. high limit thermostat
5. thermistor
6. heating element

in addition to the above

For gas burners

1. Gas valve
2. Gas safety valve
3. Ignitor
4. Flame sensor

Most dryers have at least 5 of the 6 components listed in the first set of components above. The high limit thermostat is replaced by the thermistor in newer models. Thermistors are a one time fail item and if it has opened it must be replaced.

The warranty for this dryer is as follows:

1 year full coverage

Limited Warranty

After one year from the date of original retail purchase, Amana will provide a replacement part, f.o.b. Amana, Iowa, as listed below, for any part that fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. The owner will be responsible for paying all other costs including labor, mileage, and transportation.

Second through Third Year
Amana will provide any part.

Third through Fifth Year
Amana will provide the drive motor or timer.

Third through Tenth Year
Amana will provide the cabinet assembly should the part rust through.

Lifetime
Amana will provide the Stainless Steel inner drum if so equipped.

Thanks for using FixYa.

if your clothes are damp because you say it does dry some what then it sounds like it could be the gas coils, the coils will work for awhile but then they fail and the timer will not move if there is no heat on the more or less

My dryer doesnt dry. I believe it is the heating element. only cold air is coming out

To replace coil, unplug and take off the back. Might have to remove heat shroud to get at coil. Remove and replace. You might have bad contacts on relay switch so play with them first and plug it back in to try it. If it doesn't work then do first step

My Dryer Starts, then stops as soon as I release the button.

Its possible the dryer heat selector is at fault. If the timer inside does not move to the end of the heat cycle you may have further problems. Depending on how old the dryer and how long it has taken to dry garments, you may want to check that the motor has not gone bad causing an electrical overload. Faulty timers will cause extended drying times eventually putting a strain on the motor's bearings and electrical windings. You may want to get a replacement or get a repair estimate to repalce the belt, motor, drum rollers and heating coil components.
