Cabrio Platinum model WTW8900BC. Why does it start a wash cycle, fills halfway up with water then quits and blinks LF on the board?

I have checked the hoses and screens and are all clear. Don’t know what else I should check.

SOURCE: Washing machine not filling with water not washing but will empty and will spin

like the anchor idea?, no sorry, this does sound like the water is not getting to the machine, so, when you turn the machine on does it make a slight buzzing noise, if so the fault is no water in the pipes to the machine (from the house), if no buzzing check the solenoids with a multimeter for open circuit (removing the 2 wires first) oh and the plug obviously / replace solenoid if needed, i am sure this will cure your problem, if so rate me please, thank you

SOURCE: Kenmore Washing Machine Model 110.20862990

You don't open the rear panel. This is a typical symptom of a lid switch problem. The link below will explain how to access it. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item number 11 (Part number 3949238). For instructions on how to replace a lid switch, click on the following link:

SOURCE: Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash - Wash Cycle not holding water

Since your washer worked fine while in Germany and now is exhibiting this problem at your new home, you may want to double check how it was installed. I suspect you may have a problem known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

This could be a simple situation where the drain line on the washer is not installed correctly. There are minimum height and length requirments on the drain line. In addition, make sure the stand pipe you have the drain hose inserted in has a proper air gap to allow draining. All of this is explained in the link provided.

I hope this information is helpful to you. The majority of the situations arise from improper installation and is not an operaitonal problem with the washer. If, however, you double check everything and still have problems, please post back and let me know.

SOURCE: check hose error on electrolux wave touch washing machine

I'm sure nojallo1 has already fixed his but I just ran into the same problem and didn't find anything in my searches for a solution. The problem I had was the test cycle wasn't long enough to get hot water through my water lines so it could verify the hot and cold hoses were in the proper places. Solution: Turn the hot water on in all the sinks in your house until they have hot water running through them. This will prime your hot water line so it is full of hot water instead of cold water. Then run the install cycle again and it should be fine.

Whirlpool Cabrio washer LF error code during wash cycle - fills but stops mid-cycle without draining.

LF indicates a Long Fill; the washer didn't start the agitation part of the wash cycle. It either took too long to reach the needed water level or the water level pressure switch didn't send the signal to the control. Sometimes, the control board can't receive the signal. Since you are getting water into the washer, check how fast the water is coming in. The system is expecting to fill in about 8 minutes. Since the water level is determined by a difference between air and water using a hose to the pressure switch, check that the pressure switch hose isn't pinched or damages. Also make sure that there isn't a clog in the hose. You may need to replace the pressure switch assembly. Check the wires to the pressure switch and at the control board for damage or corrosion on the connections. If the wiring is good, the control board may need to be replaced if replacing the water level pressure switch doesn't solve the problem.

I hope this helps. If you need a parts list, please add a comment with the model number of the washer. (It's usually on the frame of the washer under the lid and on the back of the machine.) Since the washer is 15 years old, you may need to consider replacing it, if the control board is faulty.

What dose a FL code mean on whirlpool cabrio platinum

I will try and help for some reason Whirlpool likes to flip letters around which differ from the service manual FL would be an LF long fill or is it a F1 the model doesn't show in the Whirlpool data base nor parts suppliers I suspect wtw6600sb1 does the machine from initial start fill correctly then wash if so we can eliminate the pressure switch and hose after wash cycle unit should drain then fill with rinse water if the inlet valve does not let water into the machine to satisfy the pressure switch the control times out and flashes a long fill code this unit has a log valve system possible you have a bad inlet valve on the bank of valve or a bad control not outputing voltage to the valve, hope this points you in the right direction

We just bought the washer and now it will stay on for 5 mins then all buttons blink and it says LF

LF stands for long fill,if it takes longer than a preset time by the machine it will go to LF,check water fill hoses for kinks, plugging that will slow down water fill time

LF flashes only when I use the "sheets" function. The LF appears 2 minutes after starting the cycle.

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa. Error LF means long fill, which flashes when the water level won't change for a period of time after the valves are turned on or the water has disengaged the basket but control does not detect a water level change. TO resolve this issue check if the water supply is turned on and the hose screens are not plugged or kinked. If the water is not entering the machine then check the water valve, also check the pressure hose connection to the machine/motor control. Please rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Washing machine displays an LF error code. Started last week during whitest whites cycle in rinse. I cancelled and just did rinse to finish my load. All other cycles worked and yesterday all started...

LF = Long Fill

LF flashes when the water level does not change for a period of time after the valves are turned on OR water has disengaged the basket but control does not detect a water level change.
Is water supply connected and turned on?
Are hose screens plugged?
Is water entering the tub? If so check pressure hose connection to machine/motor control.

I have a Whirlpool cabrio washer that displays LF when I try to start a wash load. The water comes into the tub but it doesn't fill. After some time, maybe 10 minutes, the washer stops and displays LF....

Aha the old LF : Captain we have a problem. What is it Spock? Computers cannot confirm water is filling, water level does not change. Spock you did pay the water bill this month? What could it be Spock? Captain the inlet screens appear to have contaminants. Suggest you jettison them. If that does not solve it see test #2b7fe528.jpg

LF code

■ “LF” (Washer is taking too long to fill)
Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?
Are the water inlet valve screens clear?
Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear display.

Recalibration is not needed but, you will need to check the above hoses and valves for obstructions and kinks.

Please rate and god bless.

Whirlpool cabrio

LF means long fill, so if your hoses arnt blocked and you are getting good flow, try looking at your drain pipe, it should only go about 6 inches into the actual drain and zip tie it there. any further it could syphon the water out of your machine.
