I have a Toshiba DVR620KU DVD Recorder/VCR which is 8 years old and the power will not stay on. The power stays on for 10-15 seconds before shutting off. Any idea what could be wrong with unit?

Sounds like some thing short circuit at its circuit board. Short circuit protection activates, as the set is switched on. Contact any service technician to check and find out the fault. This is not a user repairable fault. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

SOURCE: toshiba md20p1c tv power won't stay on

The problem is Q401. Change it. It is a 2SC1624 but a 2SC1018 will also work. This solution will work for other Toshiba P combo units.

SOURCE: Magnavox VCR/DVD recorder model ZV450mw8.

You will need a technical person to open the unit. This problem can be as simple as a dirty sensor, or bad tape drive parts, or burned out computer chip.

SOURCE: magnavox zv450mw8 Walmart VCR/DVD recorder. shuts off

Try better quality VHS tapes or 6-hour tapes instead of 8-hour ones. I had this problem myself when I used 8 hour tapes, but haven't had any problems with the 6-hour ones.

SOURCE: toshiba boots up power light stays on and shuts down, bad m/b ?

I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.

I hope this solution helps.

How can I record a 2 hour tape to a 8.5GB DVD +R DL on my Toshiba DVR620KU.

The Toshiba DVR620KU does not support dual-layer discs. See this page from ManualsLib, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/203807/Toshiba-Dvr620ku.html?page=9#manual . There is also a list of known compatible DVD discs for use with the recording function of the DVD rewriter/VCR on the next page. You should be able to dub a 2 hour (120 minute) tape to a DVD+R (4.7GB) disc. (I'll assume there is no copy protection on the tape.)

Look at page 50 and 51 for the directions for dubbing. Page 50 is here https://www.manualslib.com/manual/203807/Toshiba-Dvr620ku.html?page=50#manual . You'll want to focus on the directions in the left column. Note the section about auto-tracking of the VCR tape. Make sure to correctly indicate that the VCR is the source. Then after dubbing, finalize your disc to watch it on other DVD players.

I hope this helps.

My vcr-dvd comes on for about 7----12 seconds & then makes a rapid clicking sound & shuts off.

I would have a look at the sledge that the Lazer sits on to see if there is any plastic bits broken around where it is or itself. That might explain the clicking noise.

My brother had the same problem. Toshiba tech support said the disc was already formatted, so the DVD MENU option would not be available. He went straight to dubbing and recorded to the disc. After recording, the DVD MENU option was then available. He thought the disc was not formatted since it was straight out of the package and he always had to format other new discs. Perhaps your disc was actually already formatted?
