SOURCE: No sound on four channels while all other channels sound is fine.

You most likely have the SAP1.gif mode activated. Look for a button on your remote or an item in the on-screen menus of your television1.gif called MTS or SAP. You want to set this to "Main" "Normal" or "Stereo" (or even "Mono") mode to hear the regular television sound.

If it is in SAP (Secondary Audio Program) mode, as I believe yours is, you may hear no sound or a different audio program. Often this is a translation to another language, such as Spanish, and other times (notably with PBS stations) it is an unrelated audio (often music) feed. On some stations there may be no sound at all with the audio mode set to SAP.

SOURCE: Channel Scan on my Philips 26" TV only finds the local channels.

Hi.

you should go into your tv's setup menu and go to the tuner settings and make sure it is set to CATV (cable tv) and not Antenna/Air also splitting a cable to many times can cause the signal to weaken and gain a lot of noise/distortion that could be an issue that can only be solved by having the company come to the house and do a test ALSO when your in the tuner menu in under your tv's setup menu try adding a non local channel manualy and then see if the tv will tune to it, if so then you might have to add them manually at the worst... my guess is that it is not set to CATV/cable tv hope this helps and if not i hope someone else can.

Why will my new tv not pick up any channels when using the auto channel search

It depends on if you have cable or are using an antenna. If you have cable, make sure you have the cable that runs in between them hooked up to the correct spots. If you're using an antenna, you might need to get a TV converter box. A couple of years ago, they stopped making regular TV channels and switched to only digital channels. Most older TVs don't work with digital channels, so you need a box that will convert the picture. You can get one at any place that sells TVs (walmart, amazon, etc)

I have a JVC tv model AV 27495. I hooked it to the cable with the cable cord. I can only get cable 2 channel. I can't access any channels. What do I need to hook into the cable? Do I need a box since...

Yes, with the Direct TV box it did all the tuning and your TV had only to be on one channel, normally ch 3 or ch 4. Now that it is not there any more your TV tuner must do the work. You now will have to tell the TV to search for channels. Use your remote and TV menu to do this. You will be able when the search is complete to see some of the cable channels but other premium cable channels you won't be able to see without a cable box.

Impossible to change channels, turn TV on, Power and Opc blinking

go into programming mode and search for channels   it will do this automatically to find all antennae and all cable channels    if this is hooked up to a receiver box then only channel 3 will be found or used    also most tvs are computerized these days and at times it will need to 'rebooted'     unplug the power and wait 10 seconds and plug it in again    this may have to be done whenever you are locked out from changing channels or using the volume controls

How to program the TV to utilize cable channels

Go into the menu on your tv via built in button on the tv, or the remote. Look for something that reads "Program Mode" or "Program Channels"

Tv's have to search for channels that have a good solid frequency if they are just hooked up. newer tvs do it automatically

Partial Cable

The TV is set to antenna mode or over the air mode rather than the cable mode. You should be able to navigate through the menus to change it to cable mode. That should resolve it.

Tvs usualy have a few ways to hook them up. One is a coax cable this is the silver one in the back that you screw in a cable. The second are RCA cables these are the ones that are yellow, red and white. Yellow is always the video and white and red are for audio. If your using the coax cable your tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4 you may have to force the tv to go to that channel by pushing 03 on the remote. If you are using the Rca cables then you need to change the tv to "video 1" or "video 2" this changes the tv from tunner mode to aux input mode. Most DVD players dont have a coax out so you have to use the rca plugs. Some tvs have the rca plugs on the front (video 2) and the back (video 1) or line in. Some tvs have line out also so you need to figure out wich way you have it hooked up. Do a search for the model of your tv and it should show a diagram on how to hook it up.
