Hi K Howard, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
what is the rca cables connected to at other end ?
have you reconnected the rca cables to the tv ?
did you plug cables into the rca inputs video and audio ?
Yellow plug goes into Video in
    Red goes into Audio in
    White goes into Audio in
suspect with the limited info given that you may have plugged video into component in rather than av in ?

Hi, here is more detail. Prior to the issue the TV was connected to Comcast cable via a converter box, a vcr/dvd combo player was connected via rca inputs (yellow to video, red and white to appropriate audio inputs) in input #1 (of three) and an NSES was connected via RCA cables to input #2 and everything was working just fine. We never watch cable on this tv. It is now used almost exclusively for retro video game systems. So we disconnected the cable and returned the box to Comcast. The only other thing that changed is that we moved the TV by about six inches. We have now tried the vcr/dvd player and two different retro video game systems, one of which is an NSES, in all three inputs. On all three we get sound but no picture. But the menus (accessed with the original remote) show up just fine. We then attached the vcr/dvd player using the the rca audio cables and an s-video cable and everything works perfect. But only one of the three inputs includes the s-video input option. We went to a store and found an rca to s-video converter and are able to connect one game system at a time this way (everything works) but would really like to be able to use all three inputs. I can’t figure out why all three rca video inputs would stop working all at the same time. I did a factory reset and fixed the channel to channel 3 but nothing changed. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! (Please excuse any delay in response -single working parent without much free time).

Do a factory reset to this set, and then check. To make it factory reset, you have to enter its service mode. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
NB: Please read and understand well, the instructions to enter the service mode, before you begin. Be very careful. Note how to "EXIT" the service mode; after entering and adjusting data. This is very important.

Service mode entry procedure of almost all Sony TVs [LCD & CRT] are similar.

As noted in the original post, I already did a factory reset. I still have the original remote which makes it easier, but it didn't make any difference. I also didn't find anything related to Sony Vega at the links posted. Thanks!

DVI = HDMI without the audio connectors. So basically you need to connect your audio in some different way, PS3s allow you to keep your video signal as HDMI and change the Audio signal to component, so that is one way or doing it, not sure if the blue ray players allow you to do this though.

Right now there seems to be many people with the same TV problems with sony and HDMI cables. Most of the solutions are resetting the TV and sony product. Try leaving your TV unplugged for a hour to let it reset itself.

I would have to say you have a bad projection lamp!! They do NOT last forever!!! About 3000 hours is normal. If this is out of warranty--about $300 in--house repair or so.

* Try hooking up another video source like a DVD, VHS player to check if your set still can view something. Other wise send it out for repair. If you do get a clear picture but nothing from regular TV then check with your cable company.

FYI, As of 2018, Check with your cable company as it may have changed to a complete digital system and will not support analog (channel 3) cable input to your TV. Try connecting the cable box using the A/V input (it's the Yellow, Red, White RCA style plugs), Or the HDMI input if available.
* Spectrum cable is offering an adapter (for a fee?) to hook up old or non-digital sets.

I have a sony wega 60 inch tv why is ever thing green? how do i fix that

Well I seem to remember in the menu settings you can default the background screen when no inputs are selected to blue I would try connecting some device to play on it and cycle through the input list to see if indeed it is just incorrect selection of may get rgb1 , rgb2 , rgb 3 then DVD. Then video or VCR as you scroll through the options.make sure you use the right cables and if it's RCA I.e. Then the yellow video input needs to go into the green component if there are no hdmi slots.

No sound on my DVD. Using S connector or jacks. Swapped DVD player, checked the cable connections, went through the menus on both the player and the TV. Never was a problem before.

if you are connected the S video output of ur dvd to ur tvs s video input , the u should connect another two RCA cable fo audio.S video connection is only for video input. connect the audio out put of ur dvd to the corresponding S video audio input, using a stereo RCA chord.

No problem, wondering if I'm able to connect this TV to my laptop to connect to the internet and if so what do I need to do this.

Yes, you should be able to. You will need to buy a $20 adapter. Sewell Direct sells them, also They are called VGA to RCA composite video converter. This will convert your laptop's VGA output to RCA composite video for connection to your TV yellow video input. Connect an audio cable from laptop's earphone output to the TV's RCA audio inputs (white and red) using a 3.5mm to RCA adapter cable available at Radio Shack for about $10. This will work. You can see everything that the laptop displays on the TV. You can even hookup a VCR to record it all.

For some reason, the component video input on my Sony Wega KE-42TS2U plasma HDTV will not work. Component video is on video 3. All other inputs work fine (coaxial, standard RCA inputs, and the digital...

Yes you need a new Q board most likely, if you audio fails after a while and your other inputs do as well then for sure you need a new Q board. It may be B board but I highly doubt. Atleast with my experiences with the KE-42TS2U.

HDMI Video not working on kv-30hs420 but audio works

AmigaDude posts how to reset the video to factory settings here:

The instructions are as follows: 1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.
2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

Once reset, you'll connect your RCA cables (Red/White/Yellow) and set up the PS3 display settings. To get there from the XMB bar, go to Settings > Display Settings. You might have to disconnect the HDMI cable from the PS3 before the RCA cables work. I don't remember entirely.
Select Video Output Settings > HDMI > Automatic. If you can see the prompt about a max resoultion of 1080i (with your HDMI cable plugged in) you should be good. Select Yes and press X to continue. You can set up the audio but it's not necessary. Select Finish and you should be good.

My sony wega 36' circa 2001 will not receive cable signal.

If none of the r.f. inputs are working and you do not get local channels off of a pair of rabbit ears. You may have a bad tuner. Which you can get replaced for 125.00-150.00 or you could run the cable into a vcr input and use audio/video cables to connect to a video input on the tv and switch tv to that input and run the channels using your vcr. In other words, use your tv as a monitor and use the vcr tuner to pickup basic cable. Hope that takes care of it, Russmann.
