I have the manual and have followed instructions for charging. I guess I will wait 16 hours to see if it has charged. There is no way
to tell if it is charging. The manual that came withe product seems to be for other models.

Great thanks. so it was wrong category. I don't think I can change it now.

Anyway, here is the answer, 24 hours, and make sure the vacuum switch is in the OFF position. You should see a charging light?

    Charging the battery

From new, the rechargeable cells of the product need a minimum charge time of 24
    hours to ensure full power.

We suggest you fully discharge the product when it is used for the first time as this will
    help the cells recharge faster.

    • The switch must be in the off (“O”) position, the product will not charge if it is in any
    other position.

    • Figure F - Plug the jack plug of the charger into the charging socket of the tool. Plug the charger into any standard 120 Volt 60 Hz electrical outlet.

The charging indicator will be lit.

While charging, the charger may get warm, this
is perfectly normal and safe. It can remain on
charge indefinitely without damage or danger. It
is not possible to “overcharge” the battery cells
    with the charger provided.

    • The charging indicator will be lit as long as
the appliance is connected to the plugged-in
    charger.

If the light is on, it is charging. If there is no light, it is because the vacuum is switched on or something is faulty.

My Roomba sat on charger but it kept saying Charge Roomba. I cleaned the 2 contacts on both charger and the Roomba. Now it's not saying anything. How can I tell if it's charging?

I'm far from a Roomba expert and only clicked on your question out of curiosity given my background and as there was a similar question earlier Id passed.

A little research... Roomba NiMh battery pack is 14.4 v full charge. NiMh charging is a bit complicated, suffice to say it will eventually go well over 16V.

I would expect the charging station to have an initial charge voltage in excess of 12.5V. What I don't know is if its always on or waits to see if a load (roomba) attaches and then turns on its output.

So if you measured the power, contacts on the charger with a voltmeter and you get better than 12V likely its good, but really need to know what the voltage is when Roomba (with nominal battery pack) is docked.

Its likely the battery pack in the Roomba has a bad cell and will need replaced. You could measure the battery voltage but likely its low from not taking a charge. If its 14+ then the charger is working and the Roomba is misreporting.

Red light flashing very fast and not charging fully

How long is it charging until the light goes from flashing red (no charge) to yellow to finally green (full charge) ? If it's not at least 2 hours, sorry I don't have my Roomba papers available, so I'm guesstimating here, it's not getting a full charge. If you can put a voltmeter on the " fully charged" battery pack, that might tell you if the charger is the problem. Clean off the metal contacts where Roomba meets the two metal contacts on the charger. Also just because a battery pack or set is new doesn't mean it's functional. I had a new Apple battery for my laptop that didn't work when I replaced an older one.

Dyson DC44 Animal - after recharging battery, motor won't start?

Do not leave it to recharge overnight! Try recharging it again but just for the time it needs, and then unplug. Then try vacuuming.
This worked for me when I had the same problem.

I have an Energizer Model CHDC7 battery charger for AA/AAA batteries. I'm not sure how to use it. Specifically, when batteries are inserted and plugged in, it displays flashing green lights over all...

Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries are usually charged in pairs in consumer chargers. The CHDC7 can charge two or four batteries at a time. Their position in the charger is important (see the link at the end of this note). Each battery has a separate pair of green LEDs. There are no other LEDs on this charger. The LEDs light up to show the state of charge. Flashing means it is charging. Solid means it has reached that level of charge (ie, 1 LED = half charged, 2 LEDs = fully charged). The batteries will get warm but not uncomfortably so. After some practice you will be able to tell if they are getting too hot (which may signal a worn-out battery which should then be replaced). Like all rechargeable batteries, NiMH batteries have a finite life (measured in number of times they've been discharged and recharged). IMHO, they should also be used and charged in matched pairs. I mark them when I take them out of the box and keep them paired in use and in charging for maximum life. Yes, the devices that use 3 batteries are a pain to deal with. LOL. All details can be found on this Energiser data sheet: http://data.energizer.com/PDFs/chdc7_instructions_english.pdf

P.S. The CHDC7 remains open for charging. Closing it for storage is optional but minimizes the space it takes up.

How long i have to charge my Euro-Pro Shark

mcdevito75 here, I believe a full charge would be 4--6 hours, but wait until battery needs the charge, to charge a battery with an already half charge or better could shorten battery life.

The green light is on as though the battery is fully charged, however, when I start a cleaning cycle, it beeps and goes to red immediately without moving.

Remove the battery, hold down the POWER button for ten seconds, then put the battery back in and charge overnight. If it still tells you it's out of power as soon as you start it, it's time for a new battery. http://store.irobot.com

Scooba not working after full recharge

NiCD and LiOn batteries have this tendency. They work great for a year, then slowly die off. The problem is you. When new, the device MUST be charged for 14hr nonstop, then every 2-3 months run dead, and recharged again 14hrs nonstop. This is done so the CPU of the Roomba (cool toy) KNOWS what DEAD is and what FULL is. It does this by measuring the amount of currrent flowing thru a very precise resistance. If you do hit and miss charge cycles of the roomba or leave it charging too long, it either develops a flase memory of the above two conditions, or gets HOT and the electrolyte paste dries out. Fix is to wear it out, charge 14hrs, wer it out againand repeat 3-4x. Then recharge and use. If that doesn't fix it, the batteries are too dried and need to be replaced.

Probably have a bad battery pack, your owner manual should tell you how to replace it.
