Tips for cleaning and maintenance:

Oil the hook after having used the content of 3 to 4 bobbins. The machine
screen will display a reminder

Increasing noise of the motor and/or irregular
stitch formation can also be an indication that oiling is necessary

Remove any lint from the hook and the bobbin area, then remove the stitch plate

ENTRY INTO THE MAINTENANCE MODE
Press the [Menu] and [Start] keys. Next press the [/\] key four times to make the machine enter the maintenance mode.

(3) To stop this operation and return to the equipment to the initial stage of the maintenance
mode, press the Stop/Exit key

(2) Enter 8 and 0 using the / and OK keys.
(3) Press the Black Start (Mono Start) key several times until the purge (or flushing) count
appears on the LCD.
(4) Enter 2, 7, 8, and 3 using the / and OK keys to reset the purge (or flushing) count.
(5) Press the Stop/Exit key to return to the initial stage of the maintenance mode.
(6) Enter 9 twice using the / and OK keys to exit from the maintenance mode.

Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for your machine. If you do not have a manual, check at the Singer Company website for a download.

Raise the needle to it's highest position and remove the bobbin case. Cleaning away any lint or thread that may have accumulated in this area.

If the machine requires oiling (only if this is indicated as part of the maintenance), use sewing machine oil only.

Replace the bobbin case - making sure the needle is at it's highest position for proper positioning of the shuttle.

Refer to the manual for threading the machine - make sure the foot is always up when doing this.

Check the bobbin to be sure the thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the guides on the bobbin case.
