You will need to visit the website and reset the temporary password to a permanent password. Please note that your temporary password is valid until 11:59pm Pacific time the following day it was issued. Once you login with the temporary password the system will prompt you to enter a permanent password.
If your temporary password has expired, please resubmit your request in the same manner in which it was originally submitted. If you used theautomated password recovery system, you can simply request that a new temporary password be sent to you via e-mail.
Temporary passwords expire in 1 day. If it is not expired, make sure the temporary password is entered exactly as shown to you. If this does not work, then you have to get another temporary password to use.

Go to the Password tab of your account settings on twitter.com.
Click the Generate button.
Enter your current account password and hit Generate again.
When prompted to log in to your other device or application, enter your username and use the temporary password that you were provided.
To generate a temporary password, sign into the twitter website. Click the gear icon at the top of the screen and select settings.
Once on the setting page, click on the password link in the menu on the left. Once on the password page there is a button to generate a temporary password.
