Why does my TV have no sound at all coming from the speakers. The volume is not on mute and the volume is on.

For a CRT TV it could be that the parts inside of your TV's speakers and the parts that allow sound and control the sound and the sound input inside of your TV need to be replaced if you are talking about a CRT TV here.

The OSD consists of several menu options: Picture Adjust, Audio Adjust, TV Tuner Setup, Parental Controls,PIP Set Up, or Special Features. When in the TV menu, select the Audio Adjust and make sure the mute is off. It may be worth checking the manual which is avialble from: http://www.vizio.com/downloads.aspx

SOURCE: I stopped having sound coming from the speakers.

Make sure all your connections are tight and you have power to your speakers...Then go Start>Control Panel>Sound and Hardware>Sound, after you are in here make sure that your speakers are selected as default device.

A few things to consider: if mute on the set is not on what about the box if you are using one?

Speakers could be switched off in the set.
There could be a internal / external speaker switch(not common but possible)
Sound on the set could be muted or turned real low or off.

if the image you see on the screen is there--either it is from the set or a box if one is used.

only a few things other than the sound circuit being bad will cause this--very few sets with actual no sound problems are around.

I have a Sharp LC37D43U TV that has no audio. The volume indicator shows can be moved up or down but no sound comes through the speakers. The picture works fine. I have nothing else connected to the TV....

It appears you ve discovered the sound task levers required to adjustment properties. Your Tv can still move levers even when the volume is set to mute. Select the unmute button before any voice or audio would be reactivated. Assuming that seting the TV on mute has predominant integrety over the volume functions where not unmuting usually with the same button on the remote would not achieve accessibility to the volume functions. refer to the TV user guide for diagnostic audios. From the remote control ONLY:

Press MUTING to mute the sound through all

speakers and headphones connected.

"MUTING" appears on the display and the

volume turns off (the volume level indicator goes

off).

To restore the sound, press MUTING again so that "OFF" appears

on the display.

• Turning MASTER VOLUME on the front panel or pressing
VOLUME +/- on the remote control also restores the sound.

You just come aroung the sound decoder section of your tv. Decoder problems may cause the fult you pointed out. Since all the controls are electronically controlled, and all are through sound decoder, which converts sound to stereo the problem must be there. Since sound comes from two channels are ok, there is no problem around sound output. Check for some soldering loose contact, wire socket loose cotanct also.

To listen to headphones without speaker noise

Put the tv on mute, sound will only come out of the headphones, volume can be adjusted with out taking the tv speakers out of mute setting.

What exactly is evrything?

Reinstalled sound drivers?
Checked your speaker cord to make sure it comes into the green hole on the back?
made sure your speaker wires are not broken?
Volum on the speakers?
Control pannel> Sound> Speaker Icon: Are the controls HIGHLIGHTED? If not sound driver is not loaded.
Check Volum MUTE. SOme programs MUTE your volume without a warning.
