Question about Advance Health & Beauty

Open Question

I have a e wheels 36 mobility scooter. After riding for a couple of blocks, after stooping, when I advance the trundle, the scooter does not respond. Any ideas of what the problem could be?

SOURCE: The battery takes a charge, but will not power scooter

This scooter require two batteries, not one. It is usually a good idea to replace both batteries at the same time, even though one is obviously bad, and the other "seems" okay. These 12 volt DC batteries (VDC) work in tandem to produce the 24 volts that the scooter operates on. In a perfect world, they would both live a long and happy life, but reality is that some die young, others old. Since they are joined together, the one that's going out saps the life out of the other one, so take a bullet and replace both batteries. Make sure you completely charge the scooter when you get the new ones in. Verify that your charger is working properly. To properly charge the 24 VDC system, the chargers have to have an output of about 26-28VDC. The output must be higher than the rated voltage of the two batteries put together to charge. While you have the shell off the scooter, you can see if the charger is working by measuring across the terminal on each battery with the charger off. Note the meter reading. It should be 12-13 VDC. Put it on the charger and retake the reading, and each battery should show an increase in the voltage due to the boost from the charger. After three hours, each battery should show about a 13.5 VDC reading which should hold above 12 for a good 8-10 miles. Always charge your batteries overnight, and if not in use, disconnect them completely with a full charge on the batteries.

How to change a rear wheel on my ew 36 mobility scooter?

Put the scooter up on blocks tall enough to raise the wheel completely off the ground. In the center of the wheel there is a removable cover much like a hub cap on a car. Remove this cover to expose the axle nut and remove the nut with a properly sized socket wrench. Reversing the procedure for installing the new wheel.

Power cuts out while going along

Battery connections are first suspect, next connections loose, next throttle has a worn spot that a little bump can trip the controller. you can try putting the scooter up on a couple blocks so the drive wheels are off the ground and then operate the throttle while banging on the tiller. you may find your problem quickly that way .

Bought a new ewheel e36 discovered today there is no way to load it with lift. Looks as if in design they failed to remember that a lot of us with disabilty drive trucks and need a way to load our mob

The majority of lifts they have for scooters involve a flat ramp that mounts off the back of your truck. There are crane types but you said it doesn't have lift points; I imagine you could build some type of sling that you can put around it to lift it. Use a material like heavy seatbelt webbing.
Here are a few of the places that have the ramp style: Bruno Scooter Lifts Mobility Products United Access Harmar AL 050 Micro Power Chair Lift Lift Go

How do I test if the batteries are still working? I have not ride or switch on the scooter for at least 3 years.

Assuming you don't have a voltmeter and can't check to see if the batteries are producing 12.6 volts, remember that these batteries are around $36 each at Radio Shack and easy to replace if your hands are working. If it's really important, spend the $36.

If your hands don't, or you don't have a Radio Shack, a scooter replace shop locally charges $85 an hour, min one hour, to troubleshoot and diagnose the batteries, then will charge for the parts at around triple the Shack price. I'm sure there is a repair facility similar around your area.

To test the batteries without a voltmeter, charge the scooter overnight, get on in the morning, and starting at the slowest speed, go forward a little bit, slowly working your way up to the full speed. Stay around your charger, IOW don't go for a 3 mile ride, until you know if and how much of a charge the batteries are holding.

One last thought, in our scooter, new batteries only lasted 2 years and 2 weeks before losing their capacity. Our local "small town" Shack had the batteries in stock, so they seem to be a popular item.

Good luck!

Mobility scooter goes slow

driving range of 20 to 38 miles per charge depending on unit. Check out our E Wheels electric power bikes, and mopeds that goes 20 plus mph. Want a fast outdoor mobility scooter, check out the EW - 36 that goes 15 mph. This deluxe outdoor power scooter has a driving range of about 25 miles per charge, depending on the terrain and the weight of the user.

I have XL8 and need to replace batteries, what is the amps strength to give me greater miles, Im a big guy and need to go further than just a few miles

hi, according the manual

http://www.pridemobility.co.uk/docs/UK_Celebrity_XL8_om.pdf

the batteries are
Battery Requirements
Size: U1 (31-36 AH)

Weight Capacity 181 kg, 28 stone (400 lbs.)

Range Per Charge1 (With 31-36 AH batteries) Up to 40.23 km (25 miles)

You can use 40Amps batteries for this scooter and that will increase the total distrance to 27 miles max depending on your weight.
