Hi. I recently picked up a cheap secondhand Denon AVR-1604 receiver. I was hoping to play music from my phone via AUX IN, but unfortunately I can't get it working. I connected my phone to the front audio inputs using a 3.5mm to 2 x RCA cable, and then set the input to AUX IN. Unfortunately, no sound. I tried increasing the volume on the receiver and on the phone, still no sound. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to connect to the rear AV inputs instead? Do I need to connect the phone to another device before connecting to the receiver? Regards, P.

Your problem stems from the fact that the CDA-7892 is not equipped with an RCA aux-input jack. If you're plugged into RCA connectors at the back of the head unit, they're outputs, not inputs. The sound you hear is just feeding back through the outputs and into the head unit's amplifier. If you want to play your iPod through this head unit, you need to purchase either the auxiliary input adapter (KCA-121B) or iPod adapter (KCA-420i).

Hello, I think that you've got a problem in the relay circutry or a logic problem. tell ya what I ve got the service manual and schematic for the reciever. the engineers at denon where ahead of there time when this company started. they designed the equipment around what they wanted the specs to be for signal to noise and discrete audio channels. each of the sound channels from the component and composite inputs is given its own bus and amplifier channels. these paths are also common to the reciever/tuner outputs. one question though you mentioned that the composite/component video paths are not switching from the input to the output youve designated, and that the monitor checks good. do you have another video source, either digital or analog that you can input throgh another channel to see if it is infact a switching problem. try that and let me know. I can give you help with the switching circutry form the schematic if need be. believe me I know It took me about a week to track down the service schematic for this unit. Denon doesn't like giving out info unless you are an authorized repair center.

Are you using a stereo-mini to RCA cable that has a red and a white RCA plug? What I mean is, you should have the one cable coming out of the headphone jack on the computer, and two (left and right) cables going to the receiver. The only other thing I can suggest is making sure the cables are tight. Maybe try another input on the receiver. There really shouldn't be any feedback unless there is some underlying problem.

Simplest thing would be that your component cables are not HU'd correctly. Having them reversed would do this.

You may have to activate that imput through your menu.Alot of plasmas have the ability to mute imputs.
