My JVC JVC UX-D150 keeps reverting to a station called Absolute which we hate - any advice please?

You can only preset stations one by one. First, you can do a full scan for all stations in range. Press and hold the Stop button on the unit. Press Play/Pause to start the scan. (There are alternate methods using the remote control. See page 17 of the manual.) Press Fast Forward or Fast Reverse on the unit to navigate through the stations that have signal.

To set a preset, tune in a station using the Tune+/Tune- buttons on the remote or Fast Forward/Fast Reverse. Then press and hold Prog/Preset on the remote. When you see ##Empty or a preset number, use Tune+/Tune- to select one of the 20 preset storage numbers. Press OK/Play/Pause to save the preset. (If using the buttons on the unit, press Fast Forward/Fast Reverse to select a preset location. Press Play/Pause to save. You will see Stored on the display in either case, if you successfully saved the frequency to the location.

Unplug the unit for a minute or two then plug it in and try opening again. If that doesn't work try taping on the door while pressing the 'open' button.

I don't think you have the memory keep alive wire attached to a constant 12V+ source. This is why it is not keeping set stations and reverting back to demo more every time it is switched on. Usually the memory keep alive wire is yellow.

Unfortunately the UX-GP5 has a flimsy ipod connector. The connector is soldered to a small circuit board in the flip-down dock. After repeated use the connector wiggles and breaks free from the board. Various symptoms result depending on how many connections break. A replacement board is available from JVC in the US. The part number is GVA10161-A1. If you're tecnically proficient you can change it yourself by opening the cover on the docking door. It's held in place by two screws that are hidden under a glued metal strip at the back of the door (behind the ipod connector). Once you get that open it's a simple matter to unscrew and unplug the defective board.

the main problem with this is the laser .
the category 1 lasers are very sensitive .
the solution is to make sure your cd's are clean , not scratched and the final thing to do is clean the lenses of your JVC S59 make sure to keep this unit in a dust free enviroment .
