Sounds like a bad lamp, the lamp needs to be replaced every few years and rebooting is a symptom of a bad lamp. you can buy a lamp for around $100 -120 if you search the internet

SOURCE: I have a sony wega kdf-e50a10 I replaced the lamp
Without having a technician there to diagnose this problem is going to take some troubleshooting. First, I would take the lamp back out of the TV and then reinstall it and try turning the TV on again. If that does not work there could be numerous things wrong with the TV. The heat sensor in the TV could be bad or the actual light engine, which is essentially the heart of the TV, could be bad. If it is the light engine then it is cheaper to buy a new TV.

Strange situation, have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and letting the TV cool. I have a older 2006 Sony SXRD rear projection and it takes forever to turn back on if you shut it off then turn it back on. Check this link and maybe its giving you a blinking code. Try counting the number of blinks. Hope this helps.
