Question about Rheem Water Heaters

I have a Rheem Power Vent 2 41vrp50n water heater. it says there are 2 rods on the label. where these 2 rods located and how to access them for replacement?

There are 2 plastic cover on the top of the heater. I assume that there are 2 hex rod under them. But after remove the cover, I poked the seal with a screw driver and can't feel anything solid down there (around 2-3 inch deep). So I am not sure that these are hex rods under?

Blowing fuses on rheem rtgh 84dv

Call service technician
Check polarity of 120 volt outlet
Call Rheem for new PC board
If the 3A glass fuse located on PC board is blowing, then something is drawing too much current or shorted on board... problem is probably bad PC board

Replacing a rheem power vent water heater

1) Avoid Rheem.

2) Maintain water heater. Pay yourself 10$ a month in future replacement costs.

3) Read product manual for power vent specifications.
Keep in mind that power vent on top of heater can sometimes cover access to anode rod located on top of tank.

Rheem 21VP50-1P - power vent running non-stop.

Rheem does not post service manuals, but other manufacturers do.
Copy following link for troubleshoot by type of gas control valve.

You have a water leak coming out of side of tank?
Water heater must be replaced. It is rusted, and could rupture.
Inspect and replace anode rod to prevent rusted tank, so water heater will last longer.

Question posted under Rheem water heater.
Model number does not describe water heater.
Model number posted in question does not appear at Rheem, and does not appear in a web search for water heaters.
Here are options:

1) Add a comment and describe water heater in detail so expert can access more information

2) Contact Rheem.

3) If this is tank-type water heater, the anode is located on top of heater.
Look for 1-1/6" hex nut located under a plastic plug.
Some anode rods are connected to the hot-water nipple.
Sometimes the top cover has to be removed to find anode hex nut.
I have used impact wrench on anode, and could not remove in some cases.

Where is the anode rod located on the rheem 81VP20s

Anodes are located on top of water heater.
There are no hard fast rules for location, either by model number or brand.
Most times the manual is likewise vague.
1) There is hex head visible on top of tank.
2) Hex head is located under a plastic cover
3) Hex head is located under metal top, so remove screws holding top, and lift top off to view hex head
4) Anode is connected to hot water nipple.
5) With 9-12-15-and lifetime tanks, you can have 2 anode rods, and each has to be made of same material to work properly. Usually magnesium-aluminum instead of aluminum.
But if you inspect and change anodes frequently to prolong life of tank, then one is as good as the next.

Tech resistor anode rod has resistor added to prolong life of anode.
You can cut rod off to fit size of tank. You want anode 5-6" from tank bottom so sediment build-up doesn't reach anode.
Anodes are standard 1-1/16" hex head.

What years were the Rheem 81v40d produced?

You can find age of water heater from serial number located on label on side of tank.
Label also shows tank size, and tank wattage and element wattage

Cant locate anode rod on rheem gaas water heater

It looks like a plug screwed into the top of the water heater (it IS plugging the hole so turn off water and release pressure b4 removing)

Rheem ap12938 anode rod installation

I suggest replacing the whole water heater instead of just the rod. Usually the water is at the end of its useful life it the rod needs replacing. You will probably need to do that soon anyway. However, if you do replace it and have no head room, you will have to totally disconnect the heater, lay it on its side to do the job. (might as well replace the unit if you are doing all that work.)
