Question about Pioneer Televison & Video
Hi Cindy, I too am having trouble turning on ARC on the blu-ray player (XV-BD717W). I navigate to “Settings”, then “Others” however there is no ARC option. First option is “DivXVOD”. Any ideas how to fix this?

Make sure that the blue-ray player (HDMI Out) is connected to your TV (HDMI In) with an HDMI cable. Set the TV to the input for the player. When not viewing any content, press the Home (Menu) button. Choose the Setup icon on the screen, using the left/right buttons on the remote. Press Enter. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight Others and press the right arrow button. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight ARC and press Enter. Use the Up/Down arrows to highlight Yes and press Enter to confirm and save the setting.
See page 38 of the manual for the XV-BD717W for the information about the Others sub-menu (including ARC). Make sure that ARC is available on the TV and is enabled if needed. The manual is available here: http://docs.pioneer.eu/Manuals/BCS_313_AFN75473217_LG_manual/ .
I hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Thank you Cindy for your help. Unfortunately in the Other sub-menu I don't have an ARC option. The only listing in that Other submenu is : [email protected]; Auto power Off; Initialize; Software information; Disclaimer notice. I cheeked all of that menus and no one include and ARC option. Thank you"
I'm sorry that this didn't work. There is a note in the manual that ARC doesn't always work depending on the hardware. Do you have the rest of the surround sound system connected? The XV-BD717W was sold as the blue-ray player/receiver of the BCS-717 and BCS-303 (no sub-woofer).
A question: did you check if your TV had the ARC feature enabled for the port you used? On my TVs with the ARC feature, only one of the three or four HDMI ports (depending on the set) supports ARC. If you aren't using that port to connect to the audio system, it won't work. Similarly, there are some brands of TVs where the function is limited to only their brand's audio/blue-ray accessories.
Thus, what is the make/model of your TV and which HDMI port are you using on it? Finally did you try unplugging the units from power for a few minutes while you checked the wiring. Then make sure that the TV comes on first and go to the input for the blue-ray player. Then turn on the XV-BD717W and go to the Menu/Others section.

(I've never had a problem with the ARC option for my setup. However, each component was from a different manufacturer (even two different brands of TV). None of the components included a Pioneer. That's rather different from your Blue-ray surround sound system.)
