this is SSD drive for a Server.
not a PC. (your PC has no SAS ports so....)

  • Anonymous Jan 22, 2021

to do what. no usages told
SAS if for RAID controllers you do not have.
    for real servers.
    SSD is fast, m.2 faster
the SAS that slow is no good.
    ssd is solid state drive
    SAS is bus.
    serial attached SCSI.
no actual DRIVE told maker and model
no PC told or server told
no answers short are possible ever.

  • Anonymous Jan 25, 2021

    sas is bus
    SSD is the drive
if both that is server drive, that is super expensive, why ask about servers?
    here?
no PC told (or server told)
    NO OS told
take a class on PCs/ learn what things mean.

we can not ever guess what PC you have.
why not tell first what is your needs.
needs are first and costs next.

    a 1TB SSD 2.5: sata drive is $100
buy it and be happy. I have 3 in my PC.
or learn tell what PC it first.
start any post telling that first.
or all answers will be wrong.

or learn to use the wifi and read.

If it is used?, it's no good, a cast off from wise server farms. (as in EOL)
if new , you are now broke !
stay off ebay if you do not know what you are seeing there.
    ok.

Difference between SAS vs SSD. SAS is a serial drive interface based on Serial-Attached SCSI. SAS supports both SCSI and ATISSD data are stored on flash memory chips so the data can be retained without power.

SAS is faster than SSD. SSD is a type of storage device, connected to the computer through SAS, SCSI, SATA. They are very slow compared with SAS. It has increased Input/outputs per second (ability to read and write data faster).

why not learn to use the wiki ?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Att...

    SAS-1: 3.0 Gbit/s, introduced in 2004[7]
    SAS-2: 6.0 Gbit/s, available since February 2009
    SAS-3: 12.0 Gbit/s, available since March 2013
    SAS-4: 22.5 Gbit/s called "24G",[8] standard completed in 2017[7][2]
    SAS-5: 45 Gbit/s is being developed[9]

SATA 3, also known as SATA 6 Gbit/s,

SAS is full duplex so goes faster and is why it is used on commercial servers.
your PC (99%) can not use SAS unless
and expensive SAS card is added.
    even a LSI-9211 will work.(cables matched)

for a home PC , M.2 is faster and is why you see that today.
fastest of all is a server full of SAS SSD RAID.

  • Anonymous Jan 23, 2021

Simple answer, mike is it is not for you.
99% true, but no needs or PC told so...

    CALLIE
    SAS is faster than SSD

this is like saying my cars tires are faster than my fararri.
    the real answer is here.

    Mike ever price one, new?
SAS +SSD drives for servers. they are very expensive, if you looked first.
Enterprise grade servers are hard stresses on any hdd or SSD, so, are designed to do that and cost more.
    enter SEAGATE
    https://www.seagate.com/products/enterpr...

a top maker for servers, for sure.

look there see that up to 1200MB/s rates?
very near m.2 performances, seen on top PCs with M.2 prime.

    $600 to $4000 each
    seen here.

    look

    https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=Seagate+Ny...

why ask, are you dreaming of RAID severs.
    or what?
price a RAID card at 12 Gb/s SAS????

    i bet not.

data sheet on the small one is here.
    https://www.seagate.com/www-content/data...

read it carefully see this is not for any HOME PC, not ever. (costs)!

Larry the Fixya Computer Guru says;

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2021this question makes zero sense.
No PC told, no telling if HDD is boot drive.
no told OS you run, windows 10?
we can not see over your shoulder and know what is in your had.

tell what PC you have. first.
    gee, golly wise, man.
then is this a 2nd drive to add or the boot drive now to be replaced
    ????

    1TB drives come in.
    SSD 2.5":
    SSD m.3
    2.5" HDd
    3.5" HDd.
and more, sata and scsi and sas and FiberCh.
    and more.

1TB tells me not a thing, even external drives.

or if super lost post photo of your PC first.

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2021
    Do not buy a bulk
    it will fail.
    My PC boots from m.2
and has 3 SSD and 1 HDD
    and external HDD.6TB
    and uSB stick,(boxes of them)
    and internal blueray drive, BD-r.
what are you trying to do.? with what.

tell what PC you have first.
and why needed, PC dead, OS dead.
    or just need backup space.
    internal or external drives .what?

the SSD 1TB is $100 can you afford that?
    ? if yes get that.
forget HDD if not backing up 1000 movies.

Which is the lower energy consumption arises from the fact that the SSD will use lesser power and that its cooling needs are much lower? Sata 3gbps is preferable?

SSD and HDD do not support 3GB/s
The theoretical speed of SATA 3.0 is 750MB/s, while due to physical overheads and encoding during the transfer itself, the effective transfer rate you'll get with the newest SATA model is around 600MB/s, which is quite fast for a limiting SATA interface. In practice, the speed is a lot slower.

Which RAM has the best suited for enterprise applications where processing-intensive work?

You are immensely searching for a RAM that is suited for all enterprise application in intensive work. If you want to know about my preferences, then it is sas 3gbps, sas 3gbps ssd. It is mentionable here that fewer moving components make the SAS 3Gbps your ideal choice for efficient and faster performance, even in the mission-critical application and rigorous 24/7 environments. SSDs do not need to move a platter and align it to the correct position to read or write data.

SAS controllers enable the use of SATA drives to expand the storage capacity with cost-effectiveness. The use of SATA hard drives on SAS controllers is made possible by the fact that both share the same infrastructure and have similar features. ... SAS drives cannot be plugged into SATA controllers.

I have a r710dell server. It has two 146GB 15K RPM Serial-Attach SCSI 3Gbps 3.5in Hotplug Hard Drives. It seems like only one is being read. Because the C:\ is only 136GB. What could be the issue?

The two drives could be "mirrored" -- everything written onto one drive is also identically written onto the other drive. Thus, if one of the "set" of mirrored drives failed, you just remove the "dead" drive, insert a new drive, and tell it to "rebuild" the "set" of mirrored drives, i.e., it copies everything from the "good" drive onto the "new" drive, and then the "mirroring" will continue.
