It may have been designed that way or could be faulty design.

SOURCE: tanks not draining

You may be over-tightening the caps. It's tempting to over-tighten because it's a big tank of water that you're about to turn upside down! I had the same problem and the fix turned out to be just that - take the tank(s) back out, loosen the caps (hear the Ssszzzzz as the vacuum breaks), now tighten the caps again, but just enough that the water doesn't leak, and no tighter. Get the cap snug, but not so tight that you couldn't turn it some more. Do it over a sink the first couple of times until you get the feel of it.

SOURCE: Left Tank won't empty

Eureka! Solved my "left bottle not emptying" problem. The problem was not with the bottle but that the top of unit which houses the on/off switch was not seated properly. It takes only a very slight difference in water level for the float to activate the switch, therefore if the top is raised even 1/4" the unit will shut off before the water level is low enough to allow the left bottle to drain.

SOURCE: Humidifier says reserve tank is empty when it's not.

With this model it has not only been discontinued and difficult to find repair and replacement parts. I would suggest a new product. I wish that even in theses times I had more encourageing news because most of the time if its broke fix it..but this time, It's time to go shopping, also the company has sold twice, and now goes under two sub names. Have a great day. Thank you for your time.

SOURCE: tank is broken on Honeywell HCM-560 humidifier.

you type in on the internet. www.appliancefactory.com
in the search bar type in your model number. it might take a minute to load but you will have 3 pictures that come up. click on any of them and scroll down alittle until you see water tanks. you can order them there.. or if youdon't want to go that route you can always try local hardware stores to see if they have it as well.

Fan and tank lights won't run

I would look at the floating switch actuator. It's common for the float to bind up in the holder which keeps it in place. If the actuator is floating free, then look at the switch itself. Could be corroded or otherwise malfunctioning.

Hello! I have a 33201 Hunter Humidifier and for some reason does not run. It turns on (light comes on) and I can hear a faint hum if I put my ear to the unit... but again it does not come on. It does...

Hi, Mark! It may be clogged with a calcium scale build up from the tap water you use. Unplug the unit and empty any water that is the tank.Mix a 50/50 solution of White Distilled Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water. Mix enough to fill the tank. Let it soak for 2 to 3 hours and turn the unit ON. If it starts functioning as it should, allow it to run until the tank is 3/4's empty. If it doesn't operate as it should, allow it to soak overnight. And try again, following the procedure above. After it has run to the 3/4 empty point, turn the unit OFF. unplug it and dump the remaining solution. Refill the tank with Bottled Distilled Water and run again, for at least 2 hours. This with flush the system of the vinegar and water solution.

To avoid having this problem again, always use Bottled Distilled Water, rather than tap water.

Hope this helps to solve the problem. Have a Happy Easter!

WATER LEVEL FLOAT DEVICE PREVENTS UNIT FROM TURNING ON,EVEN THOUGH WATER TANK IS FULL. REMOVED SOME FILTER MATERIAL WITH NO EFFECT. FLOAT IS FREE WITH NO RESTRICTION.

These hints are from the air o swiss webpage.
Q: No mist / unit is not working / empty indicator keeps flashing
A: Fill up the water tank. Check if water is flowing through the demineralization cartridge (attached to the water tank cap). If the water tank is full but there is only little water in the base it indicates that the water is now flowing through the demineralization cartridge.

  • Wait for 15 minutes to allow the mist to come out of the unit.
  • If the unit is not working and the empty light is not flashing you might have set the desired humidity too low and the current humidity level in the room is higher. That is why the unit switches off automatically.
  • If the empty indicator continues flashing and the tank is full, water is not flowing through the cartridge. Exchange the cartridge or the granules in the cartridge after 2-3 months, in areas with hard water exchange the cartridge after 1 -2 months. However, the demineralization cartridge and or the granules must be exchanged at the latest after 6 months or the unit does not reach its full performance.
If the granules are new, see the following instructions:

  • Make sure the cartridge and/or granules were soaked for 24 hours, water takes longer to filter through dry granules in cartridge and into the base. Next, remove 2 tablespoons of granules from the cartridge, and throw them away. Too many granules in the cartridge it does not allow water to flow from the tank to the base.
If your issue is with the float and not the mister, then you have to make sure the float is tripping the micro switch that turns the machine on. Some units the filter will not allow the float to hit the switch if the filter is not installed correctly. If everything is in correctly and the float is tripping the switch, then the micro switch must be faulty.

The humidifier appears to be working (with sound ) but is not collecting any water-cleaned the filter and still the same -the lit up area where it usually has the numbers is sitting at P2- I have lost the...

Alison -

A humidifier will not collect any water. A humidifier has a tank that you fill with water. The water is released / forced into dry air to make it moist, usually by a fan or ultrasonic method.

A dehumidifier has an empty tank that gets filled by the appliance extracting moisture from the air. The tank will have to be manually emptied periodically, otherwise the safety / water level switch will shut the unit off so that the tank doesn't over flow.

I suspect that you meant to say dehumidifier.. and if so, please provide the manufacturer's name and model. The "P2" indication will be difficult to interpret without knowing the manufacturer's info.

Hi there,

The tank may be full. Your dehumidifier has a safety device that turns off the dehumidifier when the water tank is full. Usually the tank itself either presses against a switch or there's a device connected to the tank that triggers a switch when the tank is in place and full.
If you've emptied the tank and the unit doesn't run, inspect the place where the tank rests to see if there's a switch or mechanism that's not being activated. You may be able to turn it on with a simple flick of your finger.

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier, model: 697-6

Located My Manual:
Hope this helps!

1. Remove tank from base. Turn upside down and unscrew filling cap. Fill tank with clean, cool, distilled, or tap water. Water temp should NEVER be too hot or too cold. Return tank to base and let sit for a few minutes. Be sure the filling cap of the tank is tightened firmly.

2. Plug power cord into a 110-120V AC wall outlet only. Turn power switch to "on" position. Power light will illuminate. Turn mist nozzle until desired level is being released. Aim nozzle away from furniture and walls.

3. Always turn humidifier off when water runs* out. Unit will continue to operate when tank is empty.
*Humidifier will run up to 12 hrs on low; 6 hrs on high.

DO NOT LET WATER SIT IN TANK FOR LONG. THIS CAN ENCOURAGE BACTERIAL GROWTH.
Place unit on level surface away from direct sunlight.
DO NOT ADD MEDICATION OF ANY TYPE INTO THE NOZZLE, BASE, OR WATER TANK.
ALWAYS LEAVE ROOM DOOR PARTLY OPEN. DO NOT MOVE, TILT, OR EMPTY WHILE OPERATING.

Mild bleach and water solution for cleaning, never detergent.
Clean every 3rd day during use. Clean after long storage
Humidity varies from room to room. Aim for 30 - 50% relative humidity. If windows/ walls fog or frost, reduce mist intensity. If room too humid, ventilate by opening door or window; adjust mist intensity.

Hm3500

It's not a problem for the tanks to empty at an uneven rate...as long as the second one continues to supply water after the first one is empty. Yes, a slight tilt off of level could cause this. One way to test for this is to turn the entire unit around. If the floor is uneven, this might cause the other tank to empty first. You could also try placing a thin spacer (cardboard?) under a couple of the feet to change the level. Whichever tank is lowest should tend to empty last.
