Has no spark when I check the HT lead from the spark plug.

It's normal for the cat to get hot - given they've replaced everything (just about) that could cause your problem - they have not looked at the injectors and O2 sensors. If you had something burning in the engine bay it was most likely electrical and you should look for burnt wires. You probably have a short in the ignition system or fuel injector wire harness. It's nearly impossible to diag a problem like this without having the car first hand. It must be throwing check engine light codes. Get the codes and post them. Also try a different shop at this point.

you could have a bad cylanod in your starter that's what is sounds like or you might need a new starter sence you have looked and tested everything else that's the only other peice of resenable equitment left and if thats not it you could try the O2 sencer in the car if that's bad or going out it will make a car act that way. if that's not it then your problem, lys in the corb. but i would try the cylanoid in the starter first and work your way up from there

The wrong plug. They dont go far enough down into combustion chamber.

Check oil level and if ok, disconnect oil sensor and see if you get spark. If still no spark gain access to the ignition module kill wire, disconnect and check for spark.
