Search for how to diagnose parasitic power drain.

You have to determine that the various computer systems are entering sleep mode and remain in sleep mode.

You could also try removing fuses to nonessential circuits, e.g. power ports, radio, etc and try to identify the circuit causing the issue. It helps to have a hall effect DC current probe to speed the process.

Mostly a battery discharges because something is switched on rather than a short circuit, although it is possible damaged wiring could bridge two circuits.

If the radio has been replaced recently - some radios aren't suitable for some vehicles and a discharged battery over a period of a few days will be the result.

It would have been helpful if you had told us the size of the battery (amp/hour) and how long a fully charged battery takes to discharge?
This would allow us to determine the approximate size of the discharge, though this can and should be determined by connecting an ammeter in series with a battery lead - if a thorough visual inspection reveals nothing, the discharge will clearly be seen on the meter so the fuses can be drawn in turn until the discharge disappears and so the guilty circuit will have been discovered. The next stage will be to investigate everything on that circuit...

It is unwise to delve very far when troubleshooting electrics on a modern computerised vehicle without reference to a wiring diagram.

SOURCE: 2006 Corolla LS battery continual drainage

difficult to accurately *****, you need to get the charging checked, even though you have a new alternater the problem could be as simple as the charging light not working, which causes the alternater to initiate. or you may have an electrical component staying on draining the battery.

Maybe, Terminals are old POS that no longer conduct.  Hit your local auto parts store and buy some new Terminals.  Get something that Is a strong Conductor.  I suggest Brass.  Also Its Important to get the right size Terminal.  I would also put money on your Main Power Wires being real heavy gage that will not fit into a generic Terminal.  So make sure you get a terminal your gage of wire will easily fit into to avoid head ache and the hacking of your nice heavy gage Into lets say Civic gage to fit a too small terminal which mind your will work However you will have  less power weaker connections ultimately Find your self with a car that will not start.  It does not  hurt to also sand any white crude or rust that would further interupt your new connection,  Complete that and she be ready to fire up and hand you your next task.
Good Luck,

2008 Land Rover battery keeps dieing. Change battery, change alternator

If it dies while the truck is sitting turned off, then you have an active circuit in the truck which should not be on (e.g. glove box or underhood light). To find the cause, an ammeter on one of the battery cables will show you a current drain and you can then pull fuses until the drain stops to find which circuit it is.
If the battery is draining while the truck is running, it is not charging properly. This usually means the battery is shot (even a new one - do a load test) or the alternator regulator is faulty or you have a wiring/grounding problem in the charging circuit.

Car battery keeps draining

Check the alternator regulator which is a module at the back of the alternator. Maybe your battery is old. If your battery is past 2 years, you have to replace it.

2003 Range Rover HSE shut off while going down the road. The battery light came on about 30 miles before.

Your alternator has went out. The engine shut off because it drained the battery and had no power left to run it.

The battery draining of power when motor is swiched off

TO CHECK FOR A BATTERY DRAIN. TURN OFF EVERY SWITCH IN THE CAR. CLOSE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. MAKE SURE THE LITE IN THERE IS GOING OUT. OPEN THE HOOD CLOSE ALL OF THE DOORS. MAKE SURE ALL OF THE COURTESY LIGHTS ARE GOING OUT. DISCONNECT ANY UNDER HOOD LIGHTS. DISCONNECT NEG. BATTERY CABLE. USE A 12 VOLT TEST LIGHT, FASTEN ONE END TO THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL, FASTEN THE OTHER END TO A METAL PART OF THE MOTOR. IF THE LIGHT COMES ON, THERE IS A BATTERY DRAIN. NO LIGHT, NO DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT IS ON, PULL EACH FUSE, BIG & SMALL, ONE AT A TIME, OUT OF THE FUSEBOX THAT IS NEAR THE BATTERY. WHICHEVER FUSE MAKES THE LIGHT GO OUT IS CAUSING THE DRAIN. IF THE LIGHT STAYS ON THROUGHOUT THE FUSE PULLING, DISCONNECT THE ALTERNATOR. IF THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG IN THE ALTERNATOR, IT CAN DRAIN THE BATTERY WHILE SITTING STILL, EVEN THOUGH IT IS CHARGING THE BATTERY WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. GOOD LUCK

My battery dies constantly on my 2000 range rover>>>>>>it also says gearbox fault does the battery cause this problem

there is no connection with the battery drain to the gear box issue., the reson the engine dies out must be checked.
So when this happens you might have to see the alternator or the rectifier/regulator is showing errors or a error in the sensors detecting a fault.
It is good to have the scheduled service , the codes checked for any errors for evaluating .Check the charging voltage/current to the battery.

Rover 420 diesel battery keeps going flat

looks like you have something draining the battery (something electrical staying on) disconnect your battery negative terminal and connect a test light between the battery post and the wire clamp if the light comes on you have battery drain (make sure interior light is out when testing) you now need to go through all elctrical systems to trace the reason why ( check boot light goes out first this was a favorite cause)

My range rover baterk keeps going flat overy nighy

if the battery goes flat overnight but works fine when driving there are only two possibilities. either the battery is faulty and not holding charge or there is a current drain on the electrical system when standing. have your battery drop tested if ok check that current drain does not exceed 50 miliamps with everything switched off . common causes of drain are boot lamps, glove box lamps, faulty relays, faulty cigarette lighter sockets, and leaky diodes in alternator. to check for these try pulling fuses one at a time to find the faulty circuit. hope this helps
