NO PC told not even the the most tiny clue
not even desktop, laptop, notepad as clued.
zero facts told worthy.

HP,DELL, ACer, ASUS,Lenovo, thoshiba, and lots more,
laptop can be very hard, even 30 screws later hard, NO PC told.

Remove the case of your mystery device and replace it. It is normally a CR2032 button battery.

If you changed the CMOS battery you in effect reset it. On boot up, go into the BIOS setup and check all settings. Even if you don't change any of the BIOS settings, save them as if you did and it will reboot. Should be OK then.

Clock changes time

The BIOS battery keeps the Date & Time and the BIOS settings from changing. If the BIOS battery is flat then these settings are changed to the factory settings.
Yuo need to insert a new BIOS battery then go into the BIOS setting to set the Date & Time etc.

How do I change the battery on my PC?

Yes you need to install a new BIOS battery. The old BIOS battery is flat and it cannot keep (store) the BIOS setting. Most motherboards use a coin size lithium 3 volt battery type CR2032 button battery.
Check the type of BIOS battery your motherboard uses.
When you replace the BIOS battery, go into the BIOS and set the Date and Time.

Cmos setting wrong every start up of computer Bios shows wrong time. I correct time but next computer start problem repeats. Date is not changing, only time. Thanks! Alexander

you have to change the CMOS battery, this will solve your problem, its just a common problem

How do I clear the BIOS on my s6500NX? Usually this is done with a jumper change and battery removal on a Dell. Not sure how this one works.

The other way is to remove the BIOS battery and let it stand for 20 plus minutes, then insert the BIOS battery back into the computer. The BIOS settings will then be returned to the factory default settings, you then need to go into the BIOS setting and change the Date and Time setting.

Bios settings changed automatically

Have you tried to update the bios? One of the latest versions BIOS Update [DPP3510J.86A] 07/15/09. But verify to ensure that you download the correct bios for your board. There are a few options available. Also check the jumper pins for the bios on the motherboard normal or (default) setting is pins 1-2 jumped.

Hi. The clock on my Acer will not keep the correct time any more and it doesnt change dates on the calendar either. Do I need to change a battery in my motherboard?

If you change the BIOS date and time and when you boot up next time and the date and time has changed back or is incorrect, then the most likely fault is a flat BIOS battery. Replace the BIOS battery, it maybe a coin type lithium 3volt battery. this is the most common type used in motherboards is a CR2030 lithium battery.

Your bios defaulted. The battery keeps: date, time, and bios settings. You need to get in your bios and change the settings to what they need to be. You can enter the bios by hitting DEL during boot.
