Resolution problem in Windows 7

Hi.
I Windows 7 installed, a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics card and a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW monitor (native resolution: 1680x1050 @ 60 Hz).
I can't set the resolutions higher than 1600x1200 neither in ATI Catalyst, nor in Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution.
I've installed the latest ATI driver and the monitor's driver from its CD, but I can't find a newer one or a Win7 one.
Can someone help? Thanks... :)

    I have rebooted a couple of times... I know that Windows 7 supports widescreen because I currenty use 1440x900 (that's a 16:10 ratio)

    Sounds like you have a killer setup unfortunately it seems that Windows 7 doesn't understand that your display supports WS formats. hmmm How many times have you rebooted with this new setup¿

Windows 7 official release is in Oct. The Windows 7 version you have is probably the Release Candidate version, this is the last Beta version before its offical release. This version does not have drivers for al lot of devices and if you cannot get the driver from ATI at this stage then you have to wait until it becomes available.
The release Candidate will shut down every hour early next year and will stop working completely in June. You will be forced to buy Windows 7 or go back to XP or Vista.

Radeon 4770 beeping error
Always check Power and connectors first. Are they properly fitted and is there power? Your seems to be working correctly, so there must be a problem with your computer. Remove the graphics card and check the graphics output by plugging the monitor in to the motherboard graphics socket.

The "native" resolution of the monitor is the "optimal" resolution -- it looks best to use this resolution.

So, right-mouse click anywhere on your Windows desktop "wallpaper".
Click Properties.
Click Settings.
Move the "Screen Resolution" slider to the recommended settings.
Click Apply.
Click OK.

I have installed Windows 7 in my Pc with the monitor Sync Master 920 NW and the maximum resolution available 1280 X 768 when the max resolution of the monitor is 1440 x 1024.
Download the correct graphics driver.
If you have a Graphics card, download the driver from either Nvidia or ATI.
If your graphics chip is on the motherboard, download the driver from your manufacturers support page

From the manufacturer's web-site, download the newest RADEON device-driver:

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-32bit

or:

http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=win7/windows-7-64bit

and install it. Then, choose the maximum resolution.

i think you have problem with your graphics card. restart your computer and then before starting to windows press F8 to set your settings to safe mood, after booting up to windows restart the system again.if the problem persist reinstall the software drive of your graphics card if you have it.
