I have a Pearl whirlpool tub. The motor stopped working without any warning signs. I'm realizing Pearl motors are no longer being made. I had an electrician check power and he said it was fine. Any suggestions as to what / where I go to resolve this??
Every motor has a frame size and horsepower listed on it. search for a new one that way. i would think since its driving a pump it will need to be a totally enclosed/driproof model

Only thing that fixes itself after cooling is the main motor. Either motor is failing, or something is binding preventing tub from turning, or making tub hard to turn. Can have hair binding support rollers. Will need to turn tub by hand , counter clockwise to determine if it's hard to turn, if so remove tub and inspect rollers, if they don't turn freely replace rollers.

The air switch is what the air hose connects to on the back of the motor or on the box on top of the motor. The other end of the air hose is connected to the air button on the lip of the tub.
This is a latching air switch and when you push the air button it latches to send power to the motor. When the air button is pushed again it opens the latch in the air switch and stops power going to the motor shutting it off.

This sounds like a bad motor. It sounds as if it is overheating. You will need the model number and brand of pump in order to find the correct replacement.
sounds like direct drive gears are bad.. there is a slip coupling that goes over the shaft of the transmission adn assist turning the tub that could be worn or broken. you will have to remove the agitator and check the nut on top of the tub to see if it is tight or to remove the nut and check that coupling.
Your motor is shot. you need a new pump. If it comes on and you can hear a hum then it is bad. If you can get us a model number of the pump we can recommend a replacement model for you.

It sounds like the motor needs to be lubricated or there is debris keeping the impeller from turning without the help of a littl force. I would have a professional that deals with whirlpool tubs come and lube the motor.
Yes you should have an access panel to the pump somewhere. It sounds like you have already found it. You may want to get a qualified electrician involved. There are at least three sources of possible failure. The first and least expensive is that the motor tripped the ground fault interrupter and just needs to be reset. The second is that the switch has gone bad. The third and most expensive is that the pump is broken and needs to be replaced.
