  • Check just inside the Canon printer for any paper jam and any obstruction if there.
  • The next thing is to ensure that ink tanks are inserted correctly into your printer.
  • Finally, all users are requested to unplug the power cord from the back side of the printer for at least 20-30 seconds.
  • Plug in the power cord after waiting and turn the printer back on.
  • Your printer needs to be replaced if these steps do not solve your issue.

Canon MP 648 suddenly appeared a message: ERROR 5012, then after the power off and turned on again appears ERROR 5050. Printer error has occurred. TURN POWER OFF THEN BACK ON AGAIN. SEE IF THE PROBLEM...

From the service manual, both errors relate to the scanner unit:

[5012] An error occurred in the scanner FB motor.
(1) Cable connection (2) Part replacement: - Scanner unit

[5050] The AFE was faulty.
(1) Cable connection (2) Part replacement: - Scanner unit

I don't know if the following YouTube video will help, but you could watch and see if it applies to your printer.
