Question about Hitachi Televison & Video

My Hitachi model LE 32S406 shows a shadow 5 minutes after start up. it looks perfect when cold or right after start up

I am guessing it's an old(ish) TV. As a plasma the chances are that it is on it's way out.

Please Try new cables (HDMI etc)

What you described sounds like a convergence problem. When convergence has failed the colors will commonly look 3D,warped, etc. This tips page here on Fixya has more details.

I had similar symptoms about a year ago. Also came on sudden. The red convergence chip had burned out (poor heat sinking on this model Hitachi). Replacing the color convergence chips fixed it. ($50 for parts.) First, however, have you tried the "magic focus" function? That's explained in the manual, which is available online IIRC, but I'd have to look for the link if you need it.

2001 chevy 1500 truck starts finethe first time we try it after 5 minutes truck wont start again we left it for about an hour and the ruck started perfectly fine then shuts off after 10 minutes the code...

is the gas gage brok. i don't have a book yet . i go up to auto zone .if thay cant tell me i look in there books if thay have the right one.p001.thay always tel ya 02 or map cencer.is their a circuit breaker on the fuel pump circuit.a fuel filter could do that .a catalytic converter cold do that will tern pier red after 5 minutes and will shut the car down thay take about 45minuts to cool down the carbide beads.

This sounds like a convergence problem. Not sure but, the IC's are STK 392-110 or the last three digits could be 150, 570, ect... These IC's look black and about 3 in x 2in and have 12 to 15 pins. They will be mounted to a heat sink (a piece metal) They will be screwed on or a metal tab clip holding it on. Look on the IC for the numbers, then you can order the right one for your set . Hope this is helpful.

Color convergence "whacked out"/blue shadow to right side

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

Screen looks 3D
Colors don't line up
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed or warped.

Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

John, Hitachi site is down at the moment, if you remove the clips on the front of the IC`s you will see the numbers of the convergence ic`s, and yes they are a pain to get out, they are probably stk 392-110`s if they are the originals, you`ll have to un-solder 36 pins total to get them out, check for burnt resistors in the general area of the ic`s and replace any that are burnt before turning the set on,be sure to order a tube of "heat sink compound" to apply to the back of the new IC`s, once on the set will probably still look poor, this is normal, run the set for minimum of 15 minutes then push the " magic focus button " inside the front door panel, after it has finished running magic focus it should look great, video-tek

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more. Now blue spots on upper right side too. Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.
