Creedence Clearwater Revival-occasionally shortened to Creedence or CCR-was an American rock band popular in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The band consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty (John's brother), bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock and swamp rock genres. Downloading music for free is illegal. What you can do is use websites like Pandora, and make a station that fits your music genre (50s example) for free.

In order to split music on your iPod by genre, you must connect it to your computer and have iTunes installed. iTunes lets you organize music in a variety of ways including by genre. Create a playlist on iTunes by clicking the "New" button and typing a name for it. From there, simply drag and drop songs and organize them by genre.

This software can be used for:
1. Ripping audio CD's: transferring from audio into mp3.
2. Making playlists.
3. Edit tag properties like Artist; Album; Genre; Year.

A User's Guide is hidden in the Zen MX Starter Pack 1.14.03, called Creative Centrale.
This download ZENMX_PCApp_E6_1_14_03.exe is about 15 MB sized.
The execute file can be started after download and will install Creative Centrale: The User's Guide can be accessed selecting the question mark in the top of Creative Centrale.

It figures out what genre they are by the info with file like artist genre and lenght etc

The simple answer is to edit the genre data of your hard rock songs from "Hard Rock" to "HardRock" (remove the space). This sounds stupid but it causes the e280 to freeze during the refresh database phase after writing songs to the device.

I've also noticed that some genres are renamed from what they actually are. Soul, for example, shows up as Punk in the genre list of the e280. Southern Rock displays as Comedy. Mine has version 3.01.11 firmware. I renamed "Soul" to "Soul-" to get rid of the Punk tag, and "Southern Rock" to "SouthernRock" to get rid of the Comedy tag. "Ballad" shows up as "unknown" so I change it to "SoftRock" to solve that issue.

I haven't tried other genres so if you don't have any hard rock songs on your player, try renaming the genres tags to something else to see if it solves your problem.

Right click on the music file while it is displayed on the Windows Media Player window - click on "Advanced Tag Editor" - you will be able to change the genre and several other pieces of information.
