I have a Magnavox MCR230SL/17 clock radio. The band selector switch is not working right.

See if this works for your item. It was posted in 2009:
Setting the Clock
1) Press and hold in the BAND button [4] then press the DISP button [9] to toggle the display to the clock mode.

2) Press and hold in the BAND button [4] then press and hold in the DISP button [9] for at least 2 seconds.

3) Select left or right to adjust the time using the a-selector

~Adjusting minutes
Each time you select right >> using the a-selector [3], the minutes increment up by one digit (0 to 59).

~Adjusting hours
Each time you select left << using the a-selector [3], the hours increment up by one digit (1 to 12).
*The clock only displays time in a 12-hour format.
There is no way to toggle the clock to a 24-hour format.

4) Press the BAND button [4] to set the clock into memory. This also resets the seconds counter to zero.

Note:
*The clock can only be set by turning power on to the unit and switching to the clock display mode. You cannot set the clock when it is displayed with only the igntion on. If you drain or remove the car's battery, the clock must be reset. While setting the clock, if another button or operation is selected, the clock set mode is canceled.

Just press the larger On / Off button, lower left side of clock, select AM / FM band (make sure you install either the am band wire antenatal and the FM antenna (comes with clock) use the rocker arm switches to search out stations and adjust volume by turning knob on the right side of radio, that's it... There's a little switch on the either side of the top. Next to the repeat alarm button. Of you slide the switch to the middle for alarm one, it will be on set. Then using the forward or backwards button on the front you can set your alarm!

you probably ripped appart the am antenna which is inside the unit.... where are you?

it should be am selector switch on d/a and hi band

To turn on alarm, switch the selector lever to "Wake" and adjust the time shown. Then, switch the lever back to "Lock" and push the "Wake Mode" button until you see the selector dot (located on the bottom right of the time display) change to either the music or bell symbol; depending on how you'd like to be awaken.

To cancel the alarm, simply hit the "Cancel" button once, then press the "Wake Mode" button until the selector dot disappears.

I recently got the same cd/clock radio at an auction and needed a manual. I found I can read one at Amazon.com. From their home page, search under Electronics for Magnavox CD Clock Radio MCR23017. It's the same one that you and I have. Scroll down to the Product Details and click on Product Manual. It didn't solve my problem with mine (low volume with the volume all the way up) but it told me how to work the buttons,etc. Good luck! Roberta

This Clock/Radio/CD player has had component failure problems. The unit is probably not worth repairing. The reason is the parts and repair information is probably very limited. The cost of the repair with parts and labor will be expensive. This repair would probably cost you more than just buying a new Clock/Radio/CD player.
