Hi

There is sand in your lens and it is jamming upthe gears. One grain of sand will cause the lens to fail! You can try to take the lens apart and clean out the sand but it's not easy and an opened lens usually never focuses exactly right again.

Look for a defective camera online that has a good lens but broken LCD or some other problem and fix that one using yours as parts or have yours fixed with a new lens.

We can do a new lens install for you for about $80-90 I believe. If we can help please let us know!

Beach dust dropped in beach.

Cameras and beaches don\'t do well at all. The most important thing is to remove as much sand as possible without scratching any part of the camera. I\'d suggest to not wipe it at all, but take it home and try to vacuum the sand and dust off. It can get wedged in the drive mechanism for the lens focusing and will stop the camera from going through its normal initialization cycle. Check around the edges of where the lens moves in and out for sand, and try to suck it out.

Camera got dropped now it won't turn on.

The only way to sort it properly is to dismantle and reassemble. Because it has sustained damage you will have to check for any internal damage caused by the drop. Now the lens is jammed open would suggest the guide pins have either come out of their slots preventing movement or something is obstructing them.

Lens will not extend

Hi:

You need to clean around the lense first. Blow high pressure air spray and get the most sand out of the lense you possibly can.

If it did not open 100%, try to pull it out NOT too hard. If the lese goes up and down and turns you should follow the lense while pulling it out.

When it is 100% out, (the way normally opens) Clean around the lense more.

Turn you camera on and off a few times. It should be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lens are stuck out. screen says "lens error"

There could be two things causing this problem.

1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of side of the lense. So the lense could not fully retract or open out. As a result you can not take any picture. If the lense comes out even a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard a few times. If it does not retract, turn the camera off and push the lense in (up and down) NOT too hard for a few times. If the camera opened up 100% or retracted 100%, your camera should be back to normal. Make sure to clean the outside of the lense when fully open and keep it clean always. If this did not help, read 2.

2- If you dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated or the cable may have come loose. In this case you need to take out the lense from the camera and inspect it for broken pieces or loose cable. clean the outside of the lense and push the lense in and out a few times. Put the lense back on the camera and your camera would be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!

Kodak camera dropped lens cockeyed stuck open

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

When turn camera on lens opens and close

there is a friction in the movement of the lense assembly. It is not reaching to its proper position. This happens if you drop the camera, or the camera is exposed to sand. a repair technician can fix it.
