How I get off a parental lock code on an element tv when the default code does not work. I have a universal remote but the code is wrong it was a gift from a friend

What you need to do is to get into the Main menu. Then goto default settings Change to default settings It should then behave. However if you need a pass Try 0000. IT should work..

The default code is 0000 but this only works if a code has not been set. You will need the RCA remote or a universal remote programmed to work with the TV to enter the code.

If a code has been set and forgotten you can reset the code by pressing VOL+ on the remote and the CH+ button on the front of the TV simultaneously. However, you will still need a remote to set a new code. When asked for a password, simply enter a new code - I'd suggest setting it back to the factory default 0000.

The child lock then needs to be disabled from within the on-screen menu. This option is located in the Preferences menu and is called FPA Lock. This should be set to OFF assuming you don't wish to use the parental control feature. You may be asked for a password when switching FPA Lock off, so it's better to change the password first, as above.

Please try this and post back if you are still unable to remove the lock or if you don't have a remote.

u can buy a chip universal remote control from walmart and programed to this tv and then acces to the parent control

Channels that have been locked can be viewed only when the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to OFF. This can only be done with the remote control-it can not be changed with the buttons on the front of the TV.

Therefore, after you turn on PARENTAL CTRL, you simply hide the remote control so that your children can not watch the locked channels. If the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON while you are locking out channels, each channel will go blank as you lock it. When the PARENTAL CTRL function is set to ON and a channel which has been locked out is tuned, the TV will display the words PARENTAL CONTROL to let your kids know you have locked it.

If the front panel function buttons don't work, (menu, ch up/dn etc.) but the functions work normal with the remote, enter the "Channel" menu with the remote and turn "Parental Control" off.

The factory default pass code of 6688 is also the override code, in case the owner forgets their pass code. If that doesn't work, another place in the owners manual says to push Function and Mute on the remote at the same time. Function is the top right button.

I am having the same problem. I have a Mintek 2110, but lost the remote control. I found this code on the Time Warner Cable site. 2096. I'm going to try and plug it into my universal remote this evening. If that works, the default passcode should be 88888. That's what I remember my code being years ago.
