I have a JD200 6.5HP JD-TEK generator. It won't start unless you put gas directly in the carburetor runs for 5 seconds. Tried unplugged the oil sensor no change. Any suggestions on what it could be.

If the carburetor bowl is full of water it won't continue to run after it has used up the fuel you poured into carburetor.

Suggest you drain fuel bowl and the tank. Then put in 2 gallons of fresh fuel and try again.

Capture the fuel you drain from the fuel bowl and another cup or more from the tank. Put it in a glass container and if there's water, you'll see a visible line separating water and fuel... fuel floats.

Mitsubishi MGE 5800 generator won't start. Will run for seconds when I put gas directly in the carburetor. I cleaned the carburetor etc.

If the engine will start when starter fluid is sprayed into the carb, you missed cleaning some small orifice in the carb. Recheck/reclean the carb and you should be OK.

Starts up but will not run but for a few seconds

Check the oil. Some engines will shut down if the oil is low. Otherwise you probably have a dirty fuel filter and the carburetor fills up with gas long enough to start but isn't getting enough gas to keep it full.

My Briggs 10 HP Generator is outside and covered and wont start. It will run with gas sprayed directly in the carburator throat bit not on its own. I have just installed a carburator kit and a new spark...

Don't leave gas in the tank, or add additive to gas >>> you know that but the next reader might not know.

If you are able to get washer running by spraying WD-40 or some other accelerant directly into carburetor but engine will not continue running ... there are 3 suspects: 1) dirty air filter 2) the exhaust port is clogged with carbon, dirt, etc 3) the carburetor has given out or no gas is getting to carburetor

2) Check exhaust port >>> we finally broke the screen out with a screwdriver so it wouldn't bother us any more
3) Carburetor ... you have spark but the gas is either not getting to carburetor or carburetor is not letting gas in. Pull off rubber line going to carburetor and see if gas flows out. If gas gets to carburetor and all the conditions above are met, then the carburetor needs gum out or rebuilding or replacement

My generator will not start. If I prime it, then it will run as long as the fuel I put in last. A few seconds. I changed the oil and have new gas.

This is probably the needle inside of the carburetor stuck in the seat.
Sometimes you can just tap the side of the carburetor with a hard plastic mallet of the plastic end of a screwdriver handle.

If this does not work then you will need to remove and tear down the carburetor and replace the needle and seat with a new needle and seat.

This should take care of the problem.
