I recently bought Model 50011 timer. I followed instructions but the dehydrator is not working in the L position when I plug the timer in. Does this work for dehydrators?

The timer has 3 prongs holes. Do you think I might need an adapter for my dehydrator which only has 2 prongs?

I have no experience with dehydrators but I know of nothing that makes them electrically different to any other appliance. Clearly as it only has two prongs it is a double insulated device and doesn't need a ground connection and this is common with various other devices that might need controlling with a timer.

As long as you connect your appliance to the power pin receptacles of the timeswitch and ignore the ground, it should work if the timer has been set per instructions - as it is basically an electric clock, if it is working the timer dial should move indicating the current time. The connection to the timer can be tested by moving the override switch found on the lower right of the timer, when your dehydrator should be permanently switched on.

Need house & home dehydrator manual

Hello, Vickie -

Do you know the model of your House & Home Food Dehydrator?

Apparently the House & Home Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator is the same as the Magic Chef Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator. Also, I have seen information indicating the model LD-1010 is the same as (or very close to) model 469-1. Perhaps yours is a a model LD-1010

I have not yet found a PDF version (electronic, Adobe Acrobat Reader software) of an instruction manual for a House & Home food dehydrator or a Magic Chef food dehydrator, any model.

However, I have found directions (not the full manual) for using a Magic Chef food dehydrator here:
https://www.leaf.tv/articles/instructions-on-using-a-magic-chef-food-dehydrator/

I have found manuals for other similar food dehydrators (PDF documents), which may prove instructive:
http://pdf.lowes.com/operatingguides/1000317095_oper.pdf
and:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/107232/Mr-Coffee-Fd5.html

Note: I also found a 1997 U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for a K-Tel Model LD-1010 food dehydrator:
https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/1997/cpsc-k-tel-international-usa-inc-announce-recall-to-replace-food-dehydrators

I have not been able to determine if the K-Tel product was manufactured by the same company which made the House & Home LD-1010 Food Dehydrator or the Magic Chef Model LD-1010 Food Dehydrator. However, I recommend you read the full recall notice and be watchful for any overheating when you use the dehydrator.

Note: If you eventually choose to dispose of the dehydrator, please do not toss it in the trash. Instead, make sure you send it to electronics recycling in your area.

Best wishes.

I have a LEM 778 10 try stainless steel food dehydrator the machine when running runs okay until the end when product is almost dry then the fan motor turns off and still hear the motor running. Heat and...

Most of these stainless dehydrators have a cheap timer which uses plastic gears turned by an electric motor to operate the machine. After being on for a while the whole timer will heat up and the gears unside will begin deflecting and failing. When this happens the only thing to do is wait for it to cool down and see if it works again. Eventually it will fail completely and the machine will jus tstart shutting down halfway through cooking.

It is possible to bypass the timer and use an outlet timer, but each model of machine is wired slightly differently. You would have to consult a knowledgeable electrician.

There are newer models on the market which have digital timers. These work muuuuch better, but the fa
